The award is tainted since they gave it to Tina Fey, Will Ferrell and Ellen DeGeneres already, but congrats anyway funny lady.

They tried to give it to her many times, but her schedule never coincided.

And Carol Burnett is one of the greatest comedic talents of all time.  Her timing is absolutely amazing.  Her delivery is top-notch.  The woman made a career of ding sketch comedy in front of an audience - it's hard to explain how difficult that is to do well.  She's simply amazing.

Carol Burnett deserves all of the comedy awards.  All of them.

I think she probably has them.

The term American Treasure gets thrown around a lot, even by me, but I think it's fitting for someone like Carol Burnett.

My criticism was aimed at the three mediocre talents who were awarded it before her. Carol is a genius and we won't see her ;likes again.

Oh - wasn't aiming that at you, I was agreeing on her talent.  I was just saying the only reason it was late for her was that they couldn't align the schedules.  I'm willing to bet she was offered it long before the others.

I used to love watching the Carol Burnett show when I was a kid. Carol was good, but the funniest parts were watching Tim Conway being a goof and Harvey Korman trying his best not to break out laughing.

They need to rename a couple of those awards after her.

My buddy introduced me to "The Carol Burnett Show" about 2 years ago. Just top notch hilarity. They were all fantastic but I think Harvey Corman stole the show from them.

The whole cast of that show...it was the perfect storm of comedy. I still fall down laughing when I watch the reruns.

The sketches were always fantastic, even when they were weren't classic.

But really, you see what a quick wit, brilliant comedianne, and force of personality she is when she does the Q&A at the end of the show. No one- and I mean no one- these days could pull that off with her incredible stage-presence and humor.

People of my generation think of her as this wonderful/talented/beautiful crazy aunt who would fly into our living rooms through the TV once a week.
It's about time she got the credit she's due.

I have a friend who lives near the Kennedy Center. She definitely was treated like a national treasure with all the security this event had.

When I am flipping through the channels and the Best of Carol Burnett infomercial comes on, I watch it.
I used to love the sketch, "you want it, you got it, Toy Wagon" and the parodies of the Calgon commercials.

Carol Burnett needs another award like God needs a starship.

Dick Cavett, though the years have taken a little of his sharpness.
