Considering Evil Dead got a remake, there is hope.

Plus Burn Notice is done so Campbell is going to be bored.

Army of Darkness 2 has about the same number of rumors of it's impending production as Sin City 2 & Hellboy 3, which is a lot.

I'll believe it when I see it.

There's only hope if they do a better job with the 2 remake than they did with the 1 remake.

That sounded like it may have been less than a 100% genuine response.
I will get excited when I hear it from more than just "vilereviews.com".

This is what I read on Wikipedia, so take it for what it's worth...

At the premiere event for the 2013 film at SXSW, Alvarez announced that a sequel is in the works. Sam Raimi confirmed plans to write Evil Dead 4 with his brother; it was later specified that this film would be Army of Darkness 2. At a WonderCon panel in March 2013, Campbell and Alvarez stated that their ultimate plan was for Alvarez's Evil Dead 2 and Raimi's Army of Darkness 2 to be followed by an Evil Dead 7 which would merge the narratives of Ash and Mia. Campbell has confirmed to reprised his Ash role in Army of Darkness 2.

Agreed. It was his usual sarcastic response to a question he has heard from people at every convention, book signing, and time he is spotted in public.

Did you really mean to include Sin City 2 in there?

As much as I'm excited about this, I'm also very skeptical.  Still, who knows?

I liked the remake.

I actually liked it. At the very least it was better than 90% of other horror movies out there.  I would hope that #2 and AoD would have more of the original's humor though.

No studio will ever back this unless Bruce isn't the main character, and we get Shia what's-his-name as the hip new kid who will take over for Ash but has to find his way first. then Ash will die at the end but we'll get 8 more movies with Shia.

Fellow horror fans, I hate to break it to you, yet it must be told: Bruce Campbell doesn't like us:

from Joe Neff (curator/showrunner of one of the long-running Columbus (OH) Halloween 24-Hour Horror Marathon (re: Campbell's booking/book signing/introduction (of a 35mm screening of the first EVIL DEAD)/Q+A appearance at the 2002 edition).

*So yes, this was the year that we took the plunge and briefly entered the Bruce Campbell business. After the strong showing from Joe Bob Briggs the year before, we had our first sold out Marathon (tickets were gone a month before the event) with the EVIL DEAD star, who was touring the country to promote his autobiography IF CHINS COULD KILL: CONFESSIONS OF A B-MOVIE ACTOR. It wasn't always easy.
We contacted Bruce's booking agent six months before the event, and everything seemed to be going swimmingly. Then, a few weeks before the Marathon, several local press outlets began asking us why they couldn't get in touch with the booking agent to arrange an interview. Then we couldn't in touch with the booking agent. Turns out that she and Bruce had experienced a falling out, and he was temporarily handling his own bookings. We learned this from one of the local papers, who had contacted St. Martin's Press (who published IF CHINS COULD KILL and were handling the book end of the tour.) Finally, less than a week before the event, I spoke with Bruce on the phone, and we set everything up.
*In our search for premieres, we came upon DOG SOLDIERS, a well-received hit on the festival circuit. I contacted the production company to request a screening, and they immediately replied that we could do so and that producer David Allen would also attend. I sheepishly told them that we couldn't afford to pay for another guest (the Bruce Campbell business being a bit...expensive), but she reassured me that David and his co-producer Brian O'Toole would pay their own way.
Cut to the Marathon. David and Brian arrived early, intent on staying for much of the event. When Bruce arrived, David tried to give him a DOG SOLDIERS flashlight as a souvenir, but the esteemed Mr. Campbell basically blew him off. Nice. I was slightly mortified that our B-movie icon was pulling rank on an independent filmmaker, especially one who was a genuinely nice guy. After the incident, I profusely apologized to David. He was a great sport about the whole thing, and it thrilled me to no ends to see DOG SOLDIERS resonate with the audience. Hours after Mr. Campbell had departed for his hotel room, David and Brian regaled the crowd with a 45-minute Q+A and prize session, and they ended up staying until near the end of the Marathon. In their own way, they stole the show from Bruce.

It'll probably be a smaller studio, like Legendary Pictures, that produces it. Or whoever financed Evil Dead Universe B edition.

Army of Darkness was always the best of the 3. That is one of my favorite movies of all time - please be serious!!!

Like others have said, I'll believe when I see it. I've heard way too many rumours about it happening to get my hopes up here.

If it does get made, I just hope it sticks with the humor/camp of Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness. I have no interest if it's just a straight up horror film like the Evil Dead remake.

I think it's just fan speculation based on the ending of the series.

Again?

That makes it how many supposed confirmations over the years?

About as many as there are dvds of the Evil Dead movies.

Just finished reading his book last week. I'd recommend it even if you aren't a fan of the chin.

Color me interested in an AOD2, but only if it sticks with being campy fun.

I don't see that working all that well. Although I would totally tune in for "Sam Axe, sits at the bar and drinks mojitos all day".

I predict 2-3 television movies over the next five years, most Michael and Fi returning.

I'm still waiting for Coby Bell to show back on Archer in a major way.

Comparing Evil Dead 2 or Darkman, to say, Spiderman 3 or Oz the Great and Powerful, its saddening to see that Sam Raimi has discarded whatever made him special as a director....  He did a lot of innovative stuff back then in the 80's.. he was an inspiration to the Cohens and Peter Jackson... You don't see any of that 'fun' in his films anymore.

Drag Me to Hell was a pleasant surprise.... I think he still has it in him, but he'll have to tap into those roots if he's expect Army of Darkness 2 to be cool.

That's because he had to make Spiderman 3 and Oz the Prequel. That's known as "contract work," and you do it to buy a new boat, not express yourself.
