I am not sure how to make it sound like you are saying it while chomping on a cigar.

I'm sure all of Iran's pilots are "Top Gun" material.

Wow. So they are still flying those Tomcats. Must be a crap shoot every time they launch.

Did they just tow the plane around the flightline? I can't imagine the Iranians having a tomcat that can still fly.

Are there other nations still flying F-14's? I'd really hate to think that the last place on Earth where Tomcats still fly are in the skies of Iran.

And if they screw up just this much, they'll be flying a cargo plane full of rubber dog sh*t out of Hong Kong!

Pretty much just them. There can't be many, we sold them those planes during the reign of the Shah, and they are supposed to have cannibalized most of the airframes for spare parts. Maybe a few are in good shape, but the parts that take a lot of stress, like the spars and wing-pivot actuators, have to be close to failure.

That's what the TFA said: one of their F-14s was taking off to check out their UFOs, and it just blew up.

And it was the 'most fit' of the bunch, so the UFO must have done something to it.

Also, have you seen the Iranians' super new stealth fighter?  It's so super stealthy, it conceals its whiz bang flight instruments behind a hologram of a piece of plywood with Cessna dials stuck in it.

I didn't know they still could fly those things. I remember seeing they were scavaging parts of some to keep others flying and here when F-14's were put in the boneyard their important parts were taken out right away and locked up or destroyed.

The Navy also came to a Air Museum I work with to make sure ours had nothing of value  that could be strategic value.

Yup, they are actually doing a pretty good job at keeping them in the air. It surprised us. That is the reason why we still have a few flying around in Nevada.

Mach 10 UFOs?

Pffft. Big deal. Hit the brakes and they'll fly right by.

One of the Iranian pilots got a good pic of the UFO:

Gevalt!

That first pic in the article was an eye-opener. That pilot is letting loose an AIM-54 Phoenix missile. That puppy has a range of 100 nmi (Nautical Miles) and packs a large conventional warhead, while being capable of tracking 24 simultaneous targets.

OK, but are they fighting the greys or the reptiloids?

What they'd be currently carrying is probably a Farouq-90, Iran's cloned and upgraded AIM-54 (with a radar cloned from a US surface to air missile).

"The twin-engine, swing-wing F-14s, among the most powerful interceptors in the world"

Stopped reading there; the F-14 was an over-engineered, pathetic piece of finicky shiat that had a nasty habit of exploding for no reason. Admit it, Tomcat enthusiasts: the only reason you like it is because of the variable wing sweep.

Yeah, pretty much this.
I could buy the Iranians band-aiding and duct-taping the Tomcats together - but the embargo on the missile parts was pretty airtight. If memory serves only about 10 - 20 Phoenix missiles were delivered before the embargo.

Then again - it is 70's era tech so, hmm, maybe?

You are probably correct. However, my point still stands even if it is the Iranian clone. It is a lethal payload for them to be running around with.

Since there are no homosexuals in Iran, it would lake the essential homoerotic overtones.

I liked it because it reminded me of Robotech Veritech fighters and/or Skyfire (AKA Jetfire). And because it looked like a sleek badass fighter. F-15's came in 2nd, F-18's tied for 2nd, and F-16's were 3rd, because the intake looked like a whale mouth. The variable wing sweep was cool, up until I realized that I had no use for the wings being forward... sweep 'em back, and look like a bad*** arrow of death!

/thought the F-4's looked like terrible slow bathtubs
//ironically, loved the A-10's even if they have the same sort of description
