snake_beater: Something something danger zone.
Misconduc: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nKuoNhihh4We really need an Iranian version of Top Gun now..
TV's Vinnie: Are there other nations still flying F-14's? I'd really hate to think that the last place on Earth where Tomcats still fly are in the skies of Iran.
Old_Chief_Scott: Wow. So they are still flying those Tomcats. Must be a crap shoot every time they launch.
groppet: I didn't know they still could fly those things. I remember seeing they were scavaging parts of some to keep others flying and here when F-14's were put in the boneyard their important parts were taken out right away and locked up or destroyed.
Harry Freakstorm: Did they just tow the plane around the flightline? I can't imagine the Iranians having a tomcat that can still fly.
washington-babylon: That first pic in the article was an eye-opener. That pilot is letting loose an AIM-54 Phoenix missile. That puppy has a range of 100 nmi (Nautical Miles) and packs a large conventional warhead, while being capable of tracking 24 simultaneous targets.[d233eq3e3p3cv0.cloudfront.net image 700x478]

FuzedBox: "The twin-engine, swing-wing F-14s, among the most powerful interceptors in the world"Stopped reading there; the F-14 was an over-engineered, pathetic piece of finicky shiat that had a nasty habit of exploding for no reason. Admit it, Tomcat enthusiasts: the only reason you like it is because of the variable wing sweep.
