You're lucky it wasn't a gazebo.

"...a very thin male wearing a white hoodie standing in the bushes outside the residence that then walked away."

I'd be more concerned about the walking residence than the skinny guy with the universal remote.

vodka: Oh the TV changed channels and the volume went up and down?  LOL... Sounds like someone was in the bushes playing with a universal remote.

Is actually a PERFECT representation of the phenomenon of Sleep Paralysis, and in fact, this is probably what the image is portraying.

Sleep Paralysis is fascinating. If you've never experienced (I have, twice) it's truly horrifying. It occurs when falling asleep or waking, and it is the feeling of being completely paralyzed-- feeling as if you have a force holding you down-- combined with the most dreadful feeling that there's a malevolence  in the room with you. It's horrible. It's probably the most terrifying sensation I've ever felt, and I don't scare easily (I used to go looking for frightening situations; Nothing in the real world was ever as horrible as this).

Sleep Paralysis is the explanation for nearly every old tale (trolls, gremlins, demons, ghosts, etc.), alien abduction tale (the monster became aliens in the 20th century), and other stories in which the subject described being assaulted by a malevolent force while in bed or reclining.

I can say I hope never to experience it again. Even knowing what it was prior to it happening, I was convinced there was an intruder in my home, and I was powerless to move, to defend myself, to even check on it. Since I'm a bit more practical than some, to me the malevolent force seemed to be a burglar or murderer (a truly dangerous human) rather than a monster or alien. It felt like hours, but it was only moments. Even after I used my lucid dreaming techniques to alert myself to the possibility of it being sleep paralysis, it took what seemed like an hour to snap out of it.

It will probably happen to you some day. When it does, how you perceive the world will color what you think is happening to you. Your logical mind will betray you unless you can really fight past the delusion, and even then it will take time during which you'll feel utter terror. Some of you will be convinced you were abducted by aliens, or visited by a demon, or haunted by a ghost.

Good luck.

It's been happening to me every month or two for at least 10 years now. I know what it is so I just try and ride it out and go back to sleep once I'm aware of it, but it's very aggravating. In the meantime it feels like someone's shouting at me from downstairs (I have a roommate) or a phone's ringing that I can't quite get up and answer rather than a burglar or monster.

Probably says something about my state of mind that's how I interpret it, as well as my nightmares... zombies, spiders, falling to my death? Meh. But an "I want to speak to your supervisor" call I can't hang up on or reading the fine print and realizing my student loan is 25% weekly compound interest*? Those are the ones I wake up from shivering.

I'd be more concerned about the walking residence than the skinny guy with the universal remote.

I only know of one residence that can get up and walk away.

So wait, Baba Yaga was the original Slender Man?

There's a lot of, what i'll call 'overlap' to be nice, between stories of Tall Greys going back decades, and the more recent Slenderman. Like most UFO and alien reports there is often some kind of electrical interference or shutting down of things.

This has me thinking people are soon going to be reporting abductions by the slenderman. And with people as dumb as they are, it will probably be taken more seriously than alien visitation. The Ghost Hunters will get to the bottom of it, i'm sure.

Since this is the States, shouldn't it be "Morbidly Obese Man"?

Or is that why it's so terrifying... "He came out of the bushes... he had a normal BMI... That ain't right (sobs)... that ain't right!!"
