Business Insider's Christina Sterbenz said the new venture could be considered prostitution and anyone taking advantage of it was heading for an emotional fall. 'Aside from being blatantly sexist, Wade's app clearly won't "build the chemistry needed to fall in love" as promised in the press kit,' she wrote.

Ask yourself how many of them are looking for genuine love if they're paying a woman for a date.

First of all, is that Chang from Community? Second, if this is a bad, sexist idea it just won't work. Guys will sign up and use it and women won't use it at all.

Description
The Carrot Dating app cuts to the chase by bribing others to go out with you. Find someone you like? Just dangle a carrot and you're on a date.
Carrot Dating takes you directly to the first date. Don't waste time messaging people who wouldn't give you a second chance, just offer a date! Will it be dinner or dessert? Flowers or chocolates? Travel or shopping? The choice is yours.

How is this any different than "I know this really good place for coffee/sushi/drinks in [swanky neighborhood.]" I think the article's offer of free jewelry for some arm candy or a house call might be out of the range of some of the people on this app.

When you see people use the word love freely all day long for products they want to buy, it tends to cheapen the concept. And maybe reveal how shallow it is for most people.

I'm tempted to set up two profiles to test this, one with a free latte and the other with some bling, but that would probably violate the TOS. We wouldn't want that, would we?

Exactly.  Still trying to figure out how women willingly signing up for a site to soak men for gifts because of their looks is sexist.  No one is forcing them to sign up.

If the women weren't taking advantage of it this site, as well as Seeking Arrangement, Sugar Daddy for Me, et. al. would be out of business.  Apparently business is really good so it must be all the men's fault.

You can't spell "materialism" without "mater" (Latin for lady or mother).

'Women have all the power in the online dating world: they receive countless messages from suitors, while men struggle for even a single reply.

Then stop giving us all the power. If we didn't know you'd crawl naked through broken glass to slip your wick into any orifice available, the balance of power wouldn't be so skewed.

2013-10-20 05:59:46 PM
Women do use these sites. There are many more like MissTravel, MillionareMatch, and dozens if not hundreds more. Women have for centuries used their wiles to get men to do their bidding. The whole premise of the site is to entice men with the promise of sexual relations, and women with the premise of financial benefit, and to do so without explicitly saying that's the intent. It's prostitution under the pretense that it's 'dating'. Sadly, I attribute it to the 'entitlement' mentality of our society. Men no longer court women, women no longer hold out for a good man. Look around - how many women are sleeping with bad men on one hand, and have some poindexter paying for everything on the other? How many women are being romanced and serenaded and courted today? Most men don't want to do the work so why not fork over some cash for some tail, since it costs about the same or less?

Frankly, it is what it is, and women love the instant gratification of gifts, rather than having to earn them just as men like the instant gratification of sex without having to romance a woman. Tit for tat, and entitlement has made it 'efficient' now.

Ok, how?  If guys try to flip the tables and force women to come to them, The men who haven't agreed to it will slide in and fill the void.  Sort of like put forth the idea of, "It would be cheaper and better to society if we didn't have to waste money on armies."  It is a great idea and would come with lots of benefits but if only one country doesn't agree and stick with it.  The whole rat race starts over again.
