Well, you can get spotted dick at the UK convention, and you can't in San Diego, unless you hook up with the wrong cosplay chick.

Ok...  so Beano and Viz, a Batman costume and several Superman books being signed.   I take it the author of this article couldn't find the 2000AD stand or something?  Whatever next, the Hellblazer becomes American?

All of Kendal would fit inside San Diego's convention building.

What is the deal with those British comics? The ones like DANDY, and BEANO that are purchased at Christmas by daft aunties and uncles and seem to have all been printed between 1895 and 1938?

Do they have a giant warehouse containing enough of them to last forever?

Do they also have a warehouse full of asbestos suits (sly Canadian reference)?

Why do the British still make comics where the hero is an Etonian toff who gets into scrapes that would embarass Nancy or the Kattzenjammer Kids for their triteness and dullness and antquity of jest? Why do people read them? Are they to blame for Harry Potter?

I have a catholic taste in comics and can enjoy cartoons from many places and centuries, but these completely elude me. Even the Brouns or Footrot Flats are more up-to-date and modern in humour and sensibility and one of those is set among sheep-farkers. (Hint:  It<s The Brouns.)

And why is Spiderman such a whiney little biatch? Shouldn't he have gay married Aquaman by now?

Well, it looks like all fifteen people had a really great time.

Hey, they gave us Judge Dredd, and some of the best war comics around. I used to read "Victory" and "2000 AD" growing up in the UK before moving to the US.

That would be 'Broons', and it's set in Glasgow - not a lot of sheep farkers about.
Incidentally, the Beano and Dandy come from the same stable as The Broons and Oor Wullie.

Why do we still make Archie?  Who reads them and why are they still a thing?  I'm not saying you're wrong, but let's not pretend it's entirely a British thing.

Say what you like about UK comics, but just 2000AD gave us Judge Dread, Slaine, Nemesis the Warlock, The Ballad of Halo Jones, Alan Moore and Simon Bisley.

Dennis the Menace was much better in his pre-Gnasher days.
Just as Oor Wullie was better with its original artists.
What?

Yes. I look at that and all I hear is a more sinister version of Handbanana saying, "Tonight...you."

Nothing like San Diego Comic Con for the fact that there are empty seats.

/People who camp out comic-con panels and take up seats need to go into the wood chipper.
