Alright, I've never posted to SMHMC before, but even I know that's a troll. For the record, I think Cinderella is criminally underrated, but heavy metal?

Uh no.

Snapper Carr: Anyone know of a good place to find recs?

I'll recommend you go see TesseracT and Scale the Summit live like I did very recently.  They've still got some USA dates left in the south along with St. Louis and Brooklyn.

For the kind of music I like October has been a slow month compared to September but here's a progressive metal/rock space opera that's pretty good.

In case this is in response to my post - I post things that I enjoy. I don't give a shiat about image or trying to be cool. If anyone else enjoys them, great. If not, whatever, maybe the next one.

I'm not big on SHMHCHCMSC, as a matter of fact this is the first time I've ever posted, but I have checked out a few videos alonng the way.

I did want to say the Cinderella is NOT metal. It's FGlam Rock, and it sucked. ANd it still sucks.

If you like the prog side of metal I recommend progmetalzone.com

If you like djent got-djent.com

If you like old school influences dangerdog.com

And I won't name names, but some of the sites that have illegal downloads are great just to see what's new and then you can go find the music on a legal site.

Right.  I like hair metal and all, but this just.....

Screw it, I need to go listen to some Joni Mitchell to overwrite that in my brain.

No, that track was quite good. Great vocal and recognizable guitars are always welcome. I'm talking about the '220 bpm guitar rape while someone gnaws at the cookie monster nuts' tracks that someone always comes on these SHMHC threads to insist is way more metal than what ever got posted that week. The metal diaspora is ruining the genre. There are far too many sub-sub-sub-genres and their rabid fan bases slugging it out about who's the most metal. Sometimes a pop-rock semi-metal confection is just the thing to fit your mood. Poison's cover of Once Bitten Twice Shy is an awesome track that introduced me to Ian Hunter at an early age. C. C. DeVille is awesome.

Ok, I didn't know if you meant generic 'you' or me 'you'. I am also a big fan of 220 bpm guitars raping cookie monster (what else could sound more pleasant, really?), and while I often post stuff like that, don't read any attitude into it.

I've been listening to their debut for weeks now.. they're playing a dive bar about 2 hours from me in November, so I'm pretty psyched.

Saw them along with Decapitated this summer opening for LOG.

Was worth the effort, for some reason I kept thinking Mastodon while they were up.

Great music, but a bit beyond my very limited harsh vocal tolerance.  Though admittedly harsh vocals are much more tolerable in live settings where the vocals are almost always softer than on the album.

So submit something, anything.  Who gives a crap if it has to be something a little more mainstream.  What are the guidelines these days?  Can it be something set to a movie or something?  There's plenty of stuff to find out there.

Meanwhile, a few recs:

During that recent long dry spell, I didn't submit something every week, but I did at least two or three of those SHMHC-less weeks. They were full music videos too, not even on-the-fence lyric vids. Modern, too--songs released this year. With no SHMHC greens, at first I figured I was doing something wrong, but hell if I knew what, so I gave up. A few weeks went by, still no SHMHC, and I figured it had just been unceremoniously dropped from the Fark Sunday lineup.

Then two or three weeks later, SHMHC came back with this hair metal stuff. I already struggle to find what I can for "popular" submission material, but with the "no repeats" rule and the broad lack of videos in this genre (it's definitely not something you get into for the money), it's not like I have a lot to choose from any more. So.

Cinderella was extremely talented, and Back Home Again was a Damon good song...which would have been a much better choice. For the record, Cinderella is more metal than Rush, FFS.

I tried to keep this going for awhile by posting good underground metal bands that I thought people should hear but I'm pretty much over it now. These threads are getting lamer and lamer.
