I HATE this shiat. This guy is making $50 a pop by exploiting someone else's intellectual property. The poster is not officially licensed. They're not his characters, and they're not public domain. He's claiming "parody" to avoid the C&D letter.

Create something of your own,  dipshiat. This cheap cash-in crap may suck in the hardcore nerds without scruples, but those of us who actually do  create original work see it for the bullshiat rip-off of someone else's work that it is.

The same goes for hats, t-shirts, and all that other "fan-made" crap that gets sold online. The way I see it, this unlicensed stuff is no better than Timbaland ripping off music from other artists and calling it his own. It doesn't matter if it's your interpretation; It's not your intellectual property, jerk.

I'm sorry. I just get sick of seeing people take the easy way. Parody my ass. This is making a profit based on a property you don't own. I see no parody here.

You're right, of course. I just get a little pissed off when I see the nerd blogosphere actively supporting intellectual property theft. You'd think gaggles of geeks would be more in support of artists' and creators' rights than they actually are, and more discouraging of people dick-riding someone else to wealth.

But people want their swag, I guess, and don't care where it comes from.

Am I blind, or is Mon Mothma not there?  Seriously, there are maybe five women with speaking roles in the whole trilogy, and that's including Slave-Girl-Bantha-Snack (who is on there).  You'd think they'd make room for a prominent rebel leader over some of the blink-and-you'll-miss-them bar patrons.

It looks like he designed and executed the poster himself. He isn't merely distributing or aping a work that has been produced already. He has created an original artwork; it just uses characters which appeared elsewhere first (which he isn't trying to pass off as his own). Yeah, it's artistically cheap and I find it unappealing, but in principle/morally it's not significantly different from Disney making a Snow White movie or Marvel publishing a Thor comic. That it happens to fall within the arbitrary lines of IP law doesn't change that (and those lines have been spectacularly corrupted anyway).

There's a major difference between taking something that is in public domain, and doing your own version, and taking someone's IP and making money off of it.

Lucas was pretty cool snout letting fans do hand made stuff, films and text... But Lucasfilm reall cracked down if you went too far.

There's a major difference legally, not morally. It's an arbitrary line.

The ONLY reason that Snow White and Thor are in the public domain right now and Darth Vader is not is that IP law has been hopelessly corrupted over the past couple of centuries such that popular culture is effectively locked away under private control indefinitely.

I though Sith was boring. It's like: Where are they fighting? Why are they fighting? What planet is this and what's it's importance? What's the objective here? I don't get who's doing what and why. It's all just pointless CGI BATTLE BATTLE BATTLE FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT LASER LASER LASER with no focus of cohesion or purpose to any of it.

Return of the Jedi had a logical plot with clear plans of action from beginning to end, even when it split into three separate narratives in the middle of it, because each was contingent on the others to succeed.

I swear, they've forgotten how to film movies like that, because it's not just Sith that violates this very simple mode of storytelling. Most of the comic book movies are just incoherent messes with confusing plots and illogical courses of action and way too many narratives.
