Considering their level of exposure during the late 90s, why is subby surprised? If they DIDN'T make a profit, it would be far more shocking.

//not defending their music in the least..

When it's over it might be worth it, but every morning until then is going to be miserable.

/fark you, I liked them

Yeah, I mean, I don't love Sugar Ray, but, I can think of at least 3-4 songs that were bone-a-fide hits.  They certainly weren't one hit wonders.

What about those Scooby Doo soundtrack residuals?

Of course they made a profit, they were both great boxers.

"Spread your love and fly" indeed.

I always thought Sugar Ray was the name of a person, not a band.

I can't recall a single Sugar Ray song. And the fark I give is too small to be seen with a microscope.

Mark McGrath? Isn't he the guy that hit all those home runs.

I didn't know he had a hit band in the 90's too.

Remember this formula for writing a greenlit headline, because in 15 years you'll be able to fill in the blanks for Maroon 5.  And Train.

Odd, your post doesn't look microscopic.

I remember one of my first roomies in the military loved these guys. That bastard would play their first 2 albums damn near full volume every weekend and fall asleep with that shiat on repeat. The sad thing is I possibly would have enjoyed some of their stuff had it hadn't been regularly drilled into my ears any time I entered the room.

Replace Sugar Ray with either Dave Matthews Band or Guster, and that would describe my freshman year roommate. If it weren't for the fact his older brother would visit every now and then and leave us booze, I might have killed him in his sleep.

/Not that I necessarily would've preferred he blared Sugar Ray constantly, either.

I work for the Pittsburgh Pirates and this season they brought in for SkyBlast events "Blues Traveler" and "Third Eye Blind".

It was like the 90s threw up all over PNC Park

I don't give a shiat about Sugar Ray one way or another, but what's the point of shiatting on absolutely everything?  Do people just have absolutely nothing positive going on in their lives?

I worked at an alternative station when "Fly" came out. It's on the list of songs I could go the rest of my life without hearing again.

Me too.  Sugar Ray always makes me flinch at the Power of Selling Out.  I saw them at a rock festival the year before "Fly" hit radio and they farking rocked.  No joke.  Very loud and crunchy.  And the very next year they had sold out to the forces of pop.... so very sad.

Gonna side with the band here. McGrath abandoned them to pursue his career as a Seacrest clone. Dude was never about the music. He just wanted to be famous.

Hell it was out of place on that album. I remember one of my friends buying the album for "fly" and then going "what the hell is this?" when RPM kicked it off.

They were good friends with a lot of the nu-metal/hard rock bands that started in the 90's before they turned all pop. There are several times where I've heard McGrath talked about by other bands.

I remember interviewing them when they were mixing the 14:59 album. They were painfully aware that they needed to crank out the next "Fly" to keep the label happy, and also painfully aware that "Every Morning" -- at the time, titled "Four Post Bed" -- was their best shot, but not quite cutting it. That said, it was a fun interview -- they were honest about everything, and had some funny stories to tell, McGrath especially.

just because he's been an epic douchenozzle doesn't mean i hate him, or that he's inedible.  he was pretty with his shirt off, and the music was good until it went past the overplay date...  then he turned into another mtv celebrity airhorn while the network was busy getting rid of music videos.
