(ESPN)   Let's see... we've got South Carolina at Tennessee (yawn), Georgia at Vanderbilt (yawn), Florida at Missouri, (meh) and, oh here's one: UCLA at Stanford. Of course, the only one that matters is Florida State at Clemson. It's College Football time   (sports-ak.espn.go.com) divider line 1064

EqualOpportunityEnslaver: ongbok: EqualOpportunityEnslaver: ongbok: Oregon is letting them hang around. That can spell trouble, especially with their failure at being able to hold on to the ball

You were saying?

Well when you give up that happens.

Agreed, just had to get a comment in there.

They were still in a position to make a comeback with the way Oregon was putting the ball on the ground when I posted that, but they had already given up, plus they started exclusively throwing the ball which always spells trouble.

Oregon's second string is going to lose the 4th quarter to Washington state 14-0.. They have a lot of work to do.

mikaloyd: This may be the biggest day ever in college football rankings shakeups

obviously big changes, yes, but looking through the top 25 results i'm wondering how many new teams will be in the top 25 next week.  sure, some will break in - Ole Miss, probably Michigan (already in one ranking) and Michigan State - but so many of the ranked teams that lost were so high, they'll probably still be ranked.

milkandcheese: Iowa State Cyclones will beat Baylor

How does "Iowa State Salmon" sound?

What an insane day...

ESPN will talk about today proving how deep the SEC is, but the big story should be the insane stats put up by some offenses. A 300 yard receiving day, and a 300 yard rushing day from a QB, and tying the record for offensive plays? All from different teams in different conferences? Insane.

And Sean Mannion actually increases his passing YPG average... though 460+ does that in most any occasion.

Sagarin's Page now includes the PureELO ratings he uses for the BCS computers. His current Top 7 teams:

1. Florida St.
2. Alabama
3. Missouri
4. Bethune-Cookman
5. Oregon
6. Northern Illinois
7. Fordham

Bethune-Cookman has played 1 FBS team, a 54-6 loss to Florida State that I guess did miracles for their strength of schedule. Fordham is undefeated, but on such a weak schedule that his other rankings (the ones not hampered by BCS rules) have them 119th.

Since it's the last year of the BCS, I think he's trolling them in protest for taking margin of victory out a few years ago. I don't know what changes he made from ELO-Chess (what he had been using for the BCS) to PureELO but it's hard to believe he'd actually come up with a ranking system like this without an ulterior motive.

Contrary to popular belief, there is more to College Station than just angry, guys in military uniforms yelling loudly.
