Hey, if Vandy and Tennessee can get ranked, we'll be two closer to SEC ranking bingo!

Thus far, the only teams that haven't been ranked are Tennessee, Vandy, Kentucky, Miss. St., and Arkansas. The only team that hasn't even gotten a vote is Kentucky.

Mizzou: Five 15 points wins in 2 years in the SEC. Four 15 point wins in the previous four years.
Texas A&M: Upsets Alabama last year.

SEC: Clearly better than every other conference by miles. No reason other teams have a shot at National Championship.

Have you seen how good Tennessee and Vandy are this year!?
So good they beat the impossibly good SC & UGA.

Funny thing you forgot to mention is that NO team playing in the FBS has a shot at a National Championship this year.

I think you mean NCAA championship.

Yeah, it's kinda of a contrived system isn't it?  If the FBS wants a national title, then do a system like the NFL, FCS, D-II and D-III, high school football....heck pretty much any other level of football...would do for their national title.   The FBS 'title' system is just silly.

Yeah that's why we were all rooting for each other to lose today, I never understand people that think that especially those posting in fark threads since we all laugh when other teams lose. I never had more fun than mocking a bama fan at the bar I frequent after their loss to Utah.

Not really Alabama has this thing called a defense, that's foreign to aTm and most teams just called up to the SEC.

Its a down year for the conference so enjoy it, even bama may lose but its unlikely.

True, but wouldn't it be less of a clusterfarked system if they featured a 24-team playoff with the top teams in the FBS's 10 conferences automatically qualify while the other 14 teams are selected for a playoff berth by ranking in the top 12 or top 16 in the final BCS standings.   If it works for the NFL and the FCS, why is it so hard for the FBS to do?

I still think this is just iamright on an alt since he's the one always biatching that Div II is superior since THEY have a playoff.

Bschott007: If it works for the NFL and the FCS

The playoffs cost the FCS (and each school that advances) money and some schools would rather not participate, but obviously you'd be a really unpopular administrator if that happened. So no, it doesn't really "work" for them.

Not an alt, this is my main account.  Also, you must really not pay much attention to College football if you keep confusing D-I (FBS and FCS) with D-II.

False. First of all, I like the lack of a playoff. In fact, I was fine without the BCS, back in the days of multiple champions. And FCS is not Division II.

I just troll you with pointing out that my team has won a national championship within memory while your team hasn't because I can, and because you're dismissive of any other level of football.

I'm pretty sure IAmRight is on record against the playoff in FBS college football.  At least he makes the point that a playoff isn't the panacea everyone makes it out to be.

They'd have to shorten the schedule for one.  FCS teams play only 11 games over 12 weeks, with the first round of the playoffs starting Thanksgiving weekend.

Bschott007: Just like the fact that most Bowl game appearances cost FBS teams more money than they make on the bowl game?

Kind of. But it's sadder when you're playing at home stadia and you still can't sell out playoff games.

It ends up being dumb because all the students are home on winter break, so you only get the locals. Then you have several weeks' worth of travel for road teams, if they somehow win, which costs money. So everyone loses money, unless one of the few teams with huge fanbases wins.

I do wonder if universities would stay open over winter break and keep all the residence halls and all operations running so they could have the student presence at an expanded playoff.
