Rum and Diet Coke. Only because I'm boring, and don't want sugar. :(

2013-10-19 08:43:34 AM
Rum and Coke. It's one of the few cocktails I like. Funny thing is, I can make a wicked coffee and Kahlua, but I can't stand the taste.

What about the appletini drinkers?

All 2 of them?

Straight Canadian Whisky for me. Or beer, but I like whisky better

/rolls over on sofa, grabs pint of whiskey. Hi there!

I drink gin and tonics.  And I rarely wear a shirt that has a collar.

I highly recommend Stonewall Kitchens watermelon mojito mix with a light rum.

2013-10-19 08:50:57 AM
Vodka tonic with lime, or Sailor Jerry with Coke Zero. But usually neither. I'm a wine or beer drinker mostly. Liquor gets me farked up quickly.

Mojito: Oh, right -- you. A bartender's worst nightmare.

Oh, god forbid we order something that takes more work to prepare than popping the cap off a Bud.  That said, if you order this in a crowded bar where the bartender has a dozen people waiting for their Bud, or if you don't leave a healthy tip to the guy/lady who muddled your mint, you're kind of an asshole.

I could do with a bourbon and a ginger, about now. I'll even buy her one, if she'd like.

Yep, mainly vodak & soda here.  And yes I am only here for the booze.

Yeah, I could care less if I'm "wasting" my bartender's time ordering Bourbon Bug's Bloods, but I don't want to slow down anybody else's drinking.

I have no problems with a mojito, either, but ordering one in a crowded bar during the height of the rush when there are a dozen people vying for the bartender's attention does make one a bit of a tool. Same for old fashioneds.

Ugh.

Sterno at least has some flavor.

Vodka Soda: You're in it for the booze. Without the calories. Or the taste. Drinking is a means to an end for you, and you once kept track of exactly how many calories you'd eaten in one day and then burned exactly that amount off on a treadmill. Worse still, you might be a guy. You definitely own a Nike FuelBand.

They know that the low calorie drink is chosen by people who are watching their caloric intake?  WHAT SORCERY IS THIS!?

This.

I'll usually get a dirty martini.  I also recently had a porch swing, which works surprisingly well, and my regular place has margaritas made with jalapeno-flavored tequilla.  I think it's tequilla.

Hell, you're lucky I'm wearing pants at all after a bunch of those!

Sidecars are my go-to. I love a good mojito, but there's a time and a place, and a regular bar is not it. Plus, as an actually-Cuban-person, I wouldn't trust most bartenders to make a good one.

There is a new bar here in Ann Arbor that specializes in fancy, mostly classic, cocktails. Had a Clover Club the other day, definitely a new favorite. But again, not something I'd ask for unless it (or at least other egg white drinks) were on the menu.

2013-10-19 09:03:55 AM
Bourbon and ginger, hell yes... not because I want to get smashed, but because it's a very, very tasty "sipping drink" which slowly brings a warm, happy glow.  Good stuff.  Best enjoyed with a nice, thick cut of steak.

2013-10-19 09:03:58 AM
Bourbon, rocks.

Tequila, neat.

When I drank liquor, it was vodka Collins. No need for the fruit, it just gets in the way. I'm a beer girl, for the most part.

Tanqueray 10
Apple Brandy
Lemon juice
Simple syrup (optional)

Shake, pour, add a touch of champagne, serve with lemon twist

Vodka martini up with a twist.  Or wine.  Occasionally a fruity fun martini, but not too often.

Old Thunder and sheep blood.

Now that's a cocktail.

Truth be told, mojitos are quite tasty.

That's a real mojito though, and you usually don't get a proper one when you order them out, at least in my experience you don't.

A real mojito is simply ice, water, simple syrup, white rum, lime juice and mint leaves.  That is all.

Note, nothing in there should make the drink green.  If you order a mojito and the server brings you back anything colored green, it was made with a cheap-ass mix where they poured some sugary (probably HFCS) mint & food coloring gunk into a glass, added a tiny splash of rum, put a straw in it and charged you $7.

I've got no idea why people think a mojito should ever be green.

In my experience, if you want a well made mojito, you have to make them yourself.  Though, most of the time, I'll just settle for a beer, or maybe a rum & coke (I prefer mine with coconut rum though).

What the fark is wrong with my cargo shorts, asshole?

Oh, I fancy, huh?!

2013-10-19 09:11:28 AM
On the rare occasions I drink liquor anymore, I drink either bourbon, single malt scotch or Irish whisky neat. For cocktails, I prefer a martini (and that's gin - if it doesn't have gin, it's not a martini) or a Sazerac. I dig old retro cocktails, too. I'm not much on rum because I find it too sweet.
