The best part is that the Cards got Wacha as the compensation pick for Pujols signing with Anaheim.  Wonder who the Angels would rather have now.

Congrats Cards.
Looking forward to a repeat of 2004 ;)

Yep. Sox at 4, Bruins at 7 would have been nice.
PIP is alright but I'd rather have one game on at a time.

Go Cards!  Maybe we can have a shot at making up for 2004.   Either way, it would be nice if the ALCS went 7 games.  And maybe extra innings as well.

Better luck next year to the Fark Dodgers fans which seem like a pretty good group.

I don't generally hate on the Cardinals as much as everyone else, but I'm getting sick of seeing them in the WS so often.

Still, I will have to be rooting for them again this year because a Red Sox or Tigers WS victory would be ten times worse.

Hoping Boston wins tonight, because fark Detroit, but then go Cards.

Put me down for another vote for Sox at 4. I'm going to the Bruins game tonight so I would have liked to see both, although I probably would have missed the end anyways. Let's hope the Red Sox beat the Tigers as convincingly as the Cardinals crushed the Dodgers.

Because it annoys others so, we'll just say it's because they're jealous.

If you're looking for a little schadenfreude at schadenfreude, deadspin has been fun. They posted an article about the dodgers losing that didn't mention St. Louis, the cardinals, or any Cardinals players (It made me laugh, but god deadspin is pretty pointless). The angst displayed by a portion of the Dodgers fan base really amuses me. I know when the cardinals lose, I go quietly lick my wounds, not run to the internet in indignation. Deadspin has been capturing some of that angst, and click-baiting with it...

Anyways, yay cards! It's only a really sucky thread because cardinals fans are too modest to brag. Because we're the best fans in baseball!

\Really guys, let us have the baseball thing, even if it's with an eye roll. We know the city kind of sucks. This is what we do well. This and high-cholesterol confections.

If the Sox do well, a "Let's go Red Sox" in Tampa will be better than during the Pats @ Dolphins game.

Well, McCarver is retiring after this World Series, and to my knowledge, Fox hasn't picked a replacement yet. Next year however, the new TV deal goes into effect and I imagine Fox will have two booths now. TBS lost two of the LDS series to Fox (they still keep the other two and 1 LCS), and Fox will start airing two regular season games on Saturdays (one on Fox, the other on FS1).

I honestly didn't know until this week how much dislike there is for the St. Louis Cardinals and their fans -- I am one and now I feel like  Lakers or Yankees fan. I've made the big time!

2013-10-19 03:44:35 PM
What disappoints me is that the Indians were widely picked to select Wacha in that draft, and most of the people on the Indians Prospect Insider (now Indians Baseball Insider) board were calling for him to be picked. But the Indians picked Tyler Naquin, who is still in Carolina and hasn't done much to impress, because they thought they could save money there and re-invest it later in the draft. This year, they finally came to their senses and drafted BPA each round, getting Frazier.

My dislike of the Cardinals is more of a professional elitism. As a Yankees fan, I dislike the notion of a team catching up to Yankee championship records (no matter far behind in 2nd place they are in that regard). It annoys that the Cardinals have their 4th pennant in a decade and are in a position for a 3rd World Championship in that same time period (hence why the likely Cards-Red Sox matchup is my nightmare scenario).

As for Cards fans, my only ire is for the BFIB crowd.. the rest of you are fine.

Ugh. And they kept using the term on the podium last night and I kept cringing. Then they kept saying it in the postgame and I kept cringing.

THAT screams of elitism: Best fans in baseball. Loyal as hell (pack the place every year), knowledgeable about the game -- but I'm not sure how you quantify a "best fan."

Also, The Bestest, I Cards have a LONG way to go to catch the Yankees. What is it now 27 to 11?

And I've always wanted to see a Yankess/Cardinals World Series. It used to be for "baseball reasons" but now I supposed it would also be for the venom spit by a hundred thousand biatching bloggers.

Well, honestly, as a St. Louisan, where else are we going to get our elitism kicks? It is really the only vestige of pride of a city that was legitimately once great.

As a lifelong Dodgers fan (not a gang member or Hollywood elitist) I am sorely disappointed in last night's nuclear meltdown. Kershaw got abused and Puig made some basic, fundamental fielding errors.

All n all, it was a fun year to be a fan, I made it t 23 games along with millions of others, and I can't wait for Spring Training.

I will reluctantly root for the Cards because Fark the American League.

Thank you, Cardinals, for vanquishing this idiot.

Yep, Yasiel Puig cost runs yesterday. No doubt about it. He needs to work on some fundamental fielding practices like taking an extra step so he throws off of his right foot. He has unbelievable god-given skills, including a Clemente-like cannon for an arm, that he has been relying on to make up for the shortcomings in his game and his inexperience. What we saw yesterday was a rookie making rookie mistakes on a national stage; someone trying to use his god-given skills to overcome his team's deficit in a win-or-go-home game and overcompensating due to the pressure.

With that said, he is going to be a formidable player.  Love him, hate him, whatever. The Dodgers' coaching staff will work with him on plugging the holes in his swing, plate discipline, hitting the cut-off man, body mechanics in the field and baserunning. They're going to devote some serious time to rounding out his game in Spring Training, and they should send him to play in one of the Caribbean leagues this winter. After another season in the bigs, there should be some drastic improvements in his play overall.

Puig, however, was not the only one at fault yesterday. Kershaw was clearly not himself. The Dodgers offense was non-existent. With Ethier and Ramirez both playing hurt, and Kemp out, the lineup was simply not up to the task. The Dodgers suffered a horrible string of injuries this year: Billingsley out for the year for UCL tear, Kemp, Ramirez, Crawford and Ethier all seriously injured at one (or more) point or another. Come February 15, the Dodgers - with the possible exception of Billingsley - should be healthy and ready to make a strong push for another NL West title and, having been to the post-season as a unit this year - have the experience to win the NLCS.

/long-winded "wait 'til next year"
