Eh. I tried the first episode and it was just way to wacky for me. Does it get better?

The first episode was painful, but they've been getting better.  Its a bit like Agents of SHIELD, it took them a few episodes for the writers to figure out what they were doing.  Its still a very silly type of humor though, so if that's not your thing you'll still be out of luck.

I get the feeling this show is the skinniest kid at fat camp

I like the show, Andy Samberg fits that character really well. I really hate the hispanic guy's character, but he appears to be getting some filling-out. It's on my DVR for sure.

I have a TV and it has 500ish channels plus a hundredish on-demand's and pay-per-view's and I've never heard of it.  It must be great, the next best thing ever...

Is that a "gold medal at the Special Olympics" thing?

I cannot stand him. Does he play himself (as seen in every episode of SNL), or does he play something less obnoxious and terrible?

I bet my wife a thousand dollars that it would be cancelled by Thanksgiving, and it certainly deserves to be, but when you describe it as "the funniest new sitcom of the season" I can't really argue with that either.

He plays a guy who is really good at being a detective and is also lazy as fark. I can relate to that.

It's ok. Network comedies kind of suck in general.

The show's actually pretty good - fairly standard sitcom stuff, but enlivened by a better-than-average cast.

It's ok and it's better then the other new network comedies (an admitted low bar) at least it doesn't have a laugh track.  I can't abide a laugh track.

Why? Are you a lazy good detective or just lazy?

Technically it's the post-post-Super Bowl timeslot.  New Girl is airing after the Super Bowl.  Brooklyn Nine-Nine will air after that.

The few clips I've seen have humored me somewhat. If it were on and the remote were just out of reach, I'd watch a full episode

That episode was spot on (had cable). The one before it? Poltergeist (1982), Stripes (1981) Nintendo (1985), Great Mouse Detective (1986) and Reebok Pumps (1989) all in the same episode?  C'MON!

They had an "old school" push button cable box on top of the tv.  Maybe back then, before houses were fully wired for cable, they tied into the roof antenna connection?

The Goldbergs and Brooklyn Nine Nine are my favorite new shows of the season. Haven't quite gotten sold yet on We're the Millers. Dads makes me want to slap Seth Green. More than usual.

We're the Millers, Mom, Dads...really..any of the studio audience sitcoms are farking horrible. I really think that genre is dead (look at BBT, horrible show, shiatty laugh track)

I was somehow unfamiliar with Crews before this.  Him trying to put together that princess house was killing me.  "WHY DOES A CASTLE NEED WHEELS?!?"

Nah, over the air didn't have 'hidden' channels. Those buttons they were mashing were on a cable box, yet they went to the roof to dick with the antenna connection.

I personally saw scrambled boobs between channel 6 and 7 in the 80s. I'm an expert.

I'm lucky I grew up in Canada. French CBC would have boobs on TV after midnight. Unscrambled...

I know I'll get shamed for this, but I watched the first four seasons of The Big Bang Theory (stopped when it moved to Thursdays and went against 30 Rock and The Office and Parks & Rec) and I still watch Two and a Half Men (I know, I'm what's wrong with America). But it's a different kind of humor, the cheap laughs that remind me of the halcyon days of The Golden Girls and Wings and even Cheers.
But I agree: we like our sitcoms smarter and don't want to be told when to laugh.

This show is really hilarious. Everyone seems perfect for their roles, some tropes here and there, but balanced. Wish Terry Crews' character could be a little more developed, this tough-guy-scared-of-gun schick is getting old. He should play it exactly like The Rock's character in "The Other Guys", Terry would've been a lot more hilarious that way.

Easily the best new show of the season, so glad it found its stride very early on.

I disagree.  I hate P & R, but like B-9-9.  I realize that doesn't say much for B-99, as P&R is so well-liked, but I can't enjoy cringe humor, and P&R seems to have a lot of it.  Well, every time I've tried to watch it, at least.

There isn't a Hispanic guy in the main cast.  Do you mean Joe Lo Truglio?  He's Italian.

I like Brooklyn 99, glad it got a full season.  I think it and The Crazy Ones are the best of the new sitcoms.  The Crazy Ones has been getting progressively better, I hope the network gives it a chance.  Sarah Michelle Gellar is absolutely killing it in her role.

I had the same problem with "The Office". Simply couldn't watch it. Though I also couldn't watch "Seinfeld" for the same reason.

Between Brooklyn 99, New Girl, and the Mindy Project, Tuesdays on Fox has taken the broadcast comedy mantle that Thursday's on NBC used to hold.

Winston on New Girl is slowly entering my comedy gold pantheon.

NBC is being dumb by not following up Parks and Rec with Community.  That would be at least one rock-solid hour.  Welcome to the Family has potential, but Sean Saves the World is farking awful, I'm surprised its lasted this long.

Jorn the Younger: I checked it out on Hulu.  It's pretty good.  Andre Braugher is great- the bits when the rest of the cast were talking about how they couldn't read him was quite funny.

Agreed.  That was hilarious and well-executed joke that lasted nearly the entire episode.  The final punch was the funniest - where the old dumb near-retiree cop had the same set-up as everyone else's ("I couldn't get a ready on him") but Andre Braugher was flat-out angry and screaming - it was a hilarious and unpredictable twist.  More writings of that caliber, I'm completely sold.

Nefarious: It's ok and it's better then the other new network comedies (an admitted low bar) at least it doesn't have a laugh track.  I can't abide a laugh track.

Mom. A show that could be funny if it weren't for that farking laugh track. I don't care if they say it is filmed in front of an actual audience because if it is the "LAUGH" and "APPLAUSE" sign must be stuck to on, permanantly.

Dropped it at the first episode. There is nothing that ruins comedy more for me than not letting a joke breathe. There are times where rapid fire jokes are awesome but in a sitcom they need to breathe and having the audience laugh at every single syllable just makes it seem forced.

So incredibly annoying. If they dropped the audience/laugh track I'd give it another shot but until then fark that show.

Look at The Crazy Ones... okay, it's Robin Williams being another version of Robin Williams. Nothing wrong with that, the man has paid his dues and has the right to make some easy money just doing his thing but at least the show lets a joke breathe.

As for Brooklyn-Nine-Nine, I enjoy the hell out of it. Not the greatest show I've ever seen but far better than most sitcoms have been in about a decade.
