Well then, so much for being the apple of their eye.

"Price. A fair price. That's not what you say it is, and it's not what I say it is... It's what the market will bear. Now there's people - and I know 'em - who'll pay a lot more than $25,000 for a healthy baby. Why, I myself fetched $30,000 on the black market. And that was in 1954 dollars."

Does it have to be my baby? Can I just sell any baby for an iPhone or do they need the paperwork? I really could use an upgrade on my piece of crap Nokia.

I don't get it. I really don't see a problem here. We buy and sell pets all the time and no one bats an eye.

If you work hard at a job and create something that others value enough to pay you for, why can't you do the same with babies? Why let all the adoption agencies make all the profit?

/Serious.

Did they sell the kid to Gypsies?  I hear that's popular in Greece.

no, you're not.  Rather - if you are, you're stupid.  Selling a human means ownership of a human - something which most people would agree is not acceptable.

Presumably adoption agencies use some of "all the profit" to care for the unadopted kids, run background checks on prospective parents, etc. I.e. all the stuff you/most people wouldn't bother doing if they're the type of person to sell their child.

/Doubt you're serious

You know - as callous as that action is- if that's their first volley in the whole parenting game, it's probably for the best that they never have any responsibility for their kids' well being.

Seems like a win/win, I'd rather have a smartphone than a kid.

Let's make this discussion about if adoptions should be for-profit for the parents (it already is for adoption agencies).
