Can the Senate bring forth a bill that requires Ted Cruz to wear a CITATION NEEDED sign at all times or is that something that has to originate in the House?

Also, made this for a thread yesterday, and surprise! it still applies today:

An education at an Ivyleague school means dick. That's not to say that you can't go to an Ivyleague school and also be intelligent but a business or law degree byitself from an Ivy league school doesn't mean anything. Do you think that Dubya got into Yale based on his merits? That's one reason whyrepublicans hate Carter. He got a real degree from a real school. They call those people "elitists".

I spend a lot of time wondering what the good old boy oil money network down here is gonna do about this fella come re-election time. Lord knows they preferred Dewhurst in the primary, and now I'm thinking they're not gonna make the mistake of letting the poor rednecks choose their candidate for them again.

Course, if Dewhurst loses to Wendy Davis (unlikely, unfortunately) come the election for Governor, they might just try running him against Cruz in the primary again... that would be interesting.

This.  He is very smart.  What people are mistaken about is thinking he actually gives a shiat about any issue.  He is simply playing the tea party like a fiddle in order to achieve whatever twisted self-serving goals he has.  There is a certain amount of laziness in achieving the goal of leading the dumbest segment of society.  Even truly dumb people like Palin, Beck and Bachman could do that.  For someone with his brains, it is like shooting retarded fish in a barrel.

Agreed. Sure he helped cost the country billions and further tarnished the GOP brand but he got hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations and now has a real chance at being the Republican nominee for President in 2016.

His plan may not have come close to doing what he said he wanted but he still personally came out way ahead.

Huh?  Greg Abbott is running against Davis not Dewhurst

as to Senator Cruz, I am reminded of (in a different context, but to a senator similar in style to Rafael Ted Cruz) the words of Joseph Welch to what I think must be Rafael Cruz's hero  "Senator. You've done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?"

Despite that, I don't think he estimated the costs properly. He ended up pretty high on the Minority Leader's sh*t list. Cruz better pray Turtle doesn't have enough time to cut his balls before he's primaried, and if McConnel does survive both the primary and the general, he may just have Cruz killed outright. Figuratively. Or literally. I'd be cool with either.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Wendy Davis. She's a long shot, for sure. But I've been following her on social media and Greg Abbott on social media- and he's making fun of her every single day, and every day she's posting positive things about education, about crime fighting, small business help, etc.

It might help. I think there are a lot of people who are fairly fed up with their politicians screaming names at each other and never doing anything. At the very least, it's going to be a hell of an intersting campaign.

There is an ocean of time between now and 2016. We politics junkies tend to live in an echo chamber and forget that most people barely paid attention to the debt ceiling fight except in passing, and perhaps the only thing most will remember is his name. Which is exactly what he wanted.

He has all the time in the world to abandon the Tea Party, reposition himself as a moderate, and capitalize on that name recognition in a presidential run.

The key is, what's the point? He's enraged and split his own party in a system where split parties are blank checks to the opposition. The Tea Party has been tainted in the eyes of the corporatists, who have always been the behind the scenes fuel for things like the Tea Party to get off the ground in the first place.

I don't see what his long game could possibly be, though I do think it was more a miscalculation of the Democrats' willingness to give rather than raw hurdurr. I think he expected another 2011 where the dems fold and positioned himself to be the biggest name fighting against them. Issa has been doing stupid shiat like this, but keeping it partitioned off to hearings and angry blog posts; Cruz decided to plaster his face everywhere in the country before getting kicked in the balls.

And now he's done. He's going to be publicly shamed and speared and feasted upon by the GOP who secretly thank him for allowing them to use him as the definition of 'a bit too far right'.

He's not talented; he is a social climber that exploits connections to "succeed" in the legal business. He may have done oral argument before the SCOTUS but it wasn't him who did the legwork, research, and drafting on those arguments.

Real attorneys that aren't avaricious narcissists did.

Lets see... Rafael Cruz attempted to obliterate the U.S. economy by shutting down the government.

Deport his ass back to his homeland of Canada, under charges of domestic terrorism.

Agreed.  Memorizing the Teaparty talking points is easy Palin and Bachman can do that.  Presenting them in a manner that doesn't sound like you're pandering to the teaparty takes skill.  Cruz is a smooth talker and his actions are deliberate.  He shouldn't be underestimated and discounted.  His goals are scary and he'll be back in 2016.

What's that picture from a previous thread today of the bored dog just watching the ball? Because that's how I feel about anything Rafael Cruz-related. He's a liar and a scammer, and he's doing it all to fund a presidential run he probably isn't eligible for anyway. Take him out at the knees, drag him behind the woodshed and get the job done. No one with a functioning brain cares about him and his deceit.
