(Time)   Predictably, the Obamabots in the MSM are unleashed on Ted Cruz, trying to make a big deal about some small-time investment he made with a friend a decade ago that he's not even hiding   (swampland.time.com) divider line 147

This could be what McConnell and the rest of the Senate uses to get rid of him via expulsion, if they're looking for an excuse.

Subby you have to be crazy. Ted Cruz is the best weapon the Democrats have in their arsenal. If they just leave him be he will hand the House majority right back to them in 2014. There is no way they are going to let him get taken down.

Cruz says he has not had any relationship with the private equity firm since he cashed out an initial investment of $6,000 for a total return of $100,000 a decade ago in a private agreement with his former college roommate, a Jamaican Rhodes scholar named David Panton, with whom Cruz co-founded the firm

Not only is he a great American, he's also one hell of an investor.

I thought Paul Ryan had the most punchable face in the GOP until I saw Ted Cruz.

2013-10-18 02:19:46 PM
The bigger story remains that Rafael Edward Cruz was born in Canada and is still a Canadian citizen. He may be electable as Republican in Texas just as Arnold Schwarzenegger was elected as a Republican in California. They are both foreign born and can not be candidates for the US Presidency.

2013-10-18 02:20:23 PM
Look, I hope Ted Cruz gets raped by a bear but this:

The relationship originated with a $6,000 investment Cruz made more than a decade ago in a Jamaican private equity firm founded by his college roommate.

is not worth getting riled up about.

They certainly seem like they'd be inclined to cut him loose. The House is in thrall to him, but the Senate Republicans hate the shiat out of him for dragging them into this mess.

sorry, whiteknightmitter, i'm guessing it's mcconnell, mccain and the rest of the semi-sane republicans in the senate driving this.

Cruz did so in his Oct. 1 amendment, but that filing also contained errors, misnaming the holding company, incorrectly saying it was domiciled in Jamaica, and giving the wrong date for the promissory note.

Cruz says he failed to include the promissory note among his assets on his first financial disclosure in July 2012 when he was a candidate for the U.S. Senate because he had forgotten about it.

The knives are coming out it seems.

Seems fairly petty though.

My big takeaway from the article is that Ted Cruz married someone name Heidi who used to work in the Treasury department under Bush and who now works for Goldman Sachs.

I'm not sure why but that amuses me.

2013-10-18 02:27:04 PM
Suppose a Democrat had done this.

Republicans would start an investigation. If it concluded that he'd committed no crimes, they'd investigate again. And a third time, and a fourth time. If the fourth investigation looked like it wasn't going where they wanted it to, they'd fire the prosecutor and get a more aggressive one. Damn the price tag, full speed ahead, maybe the subject will tell a lie about something not germane to to the investigation that could be spun as pretext for impeachment.

What did they invest in, cocaine?

Cruz pissed off a lot of people...the GOP wants him gone just so that he stops farking up their party and tanking reelection chances in 2014. Not to mention all the staffers he dicked over and government workers who he insulted and put on the streets with the shutdown. If Cruz has any secrets, odds are that now is when they'll start showing up and getting used against him.

"Why, I was at the conception of Senator Thurmond's last child.  You should have seem his wrinkled posterior,  thrusting into his wife, with each penetration the room feared would be the old mans last.  At the end we were not sure if he was having a heart attack or climaxing.  I had to send two interns into the fray to check if the good Senator was still alive."

The last thing anyone in the Senate wants is to appear to be the House's biatch. And that started happening pretty regularly there for a while.

Most of them could make much more money outside of politics which leads me to believe it is the power they crave. Newt still will go on any talk show that will have him even if it is to comment on infidelity. He misses the attention.
