You know, I was just sitting here feeling all sorry for myself, cause I got bills to pay and it's Friday and no money to enjoy the weekend, blah, blah, blah.  I came to FARK for a little levity and now I think I'm going to spend some time counting my blessings.

What a Farked up way to live.  That poor woman.

I'm amazed she's made it that long. For how clumsy I am, I would've been a garden gnome statue long before now.

Egalitarian: BafflerMeal: I had a friend whose father died from this.  Pretty rough stuff.

are you sure it was the same disease? sounds like most people who have it can't reproduce.

\which is probably a good thing

Maybe there's a milder form?  or a non-genetic version?
Son of one of my mom's friends developed a milder version of this in his thirties, and has a couple of kids, iirc.

He was playing soccer, got kicked in the thigh, hard...and a month later, his doctor discovered BONE growing in the thigh muscle tissue.

Gah.

SordidEuphemism: AUAIOMRN: Battle Angel Alita

Man, this brought back memories, so I went online and found out that Cameron has the rights but it's shelved. Which makes me wonder: Is it better that it may one day be re-done, or better that Cameron has yet to "improve" it?

Absolutely loved the OVA.

Read the book - it is still continuing and coming out to this day. Rather a good amount of philosophy mixed in with the combat.

ElLoco: berylman: So I guess rough sex is out of the question.

Not if you don't mind getting a boner right back at ya.

Okay, I'm not proud of this, but I laughed.

Military genetic researchers particularly interested. Maybe it's the mad scientist in me but seems like you could make this an advantageous "disorder" if properly scienced.
