Eh. "Prometheus" did the whole "hurricane of razor blades" thing.

God darnit SyFy.  I can overlook you putting trash/campy/bad films but when was the last time you put out there a miniseries?  You should have had one out by now instead of just investing in shiat over and over again..

I haven't watched them since that 'Tin Man' miniseries.

2013-10-18 02:01:00 AM
And they're calling it The Writer's Mashup Garbage Film Festival.

2013-10-18 02:20:15 AM
Uh obviously Stonado should be about a tornado of stoners. Seriously they couldn't make that 'leap'?

THIS50. Megapython Vs Gatoroid is my favorite SyFy shlocker precisely because of these two feisty vixens.

No wonder they gave up Mystery Science Theater 3000, they would of had their own movies made fun of every week!

2013-10-18 02:27:21 AM
At least it doesn't involve sharks this time.

2013-10-18 02:44:39 AM
If only there were some sort of substance I could take while watching "Stonado" that would make the experience enjoyable. A smokeable plant of some sort, if you will.

You mean like that shiatty Earthsea miniseries?  Last good series they put out was the Dune and Children of Dune series.  And thank god for those, but the rest has been crap.  I also cannot forgive them for what they did to Farscape.

Come on folks, it's Syfy, they gave up any hope of doing anything good or even halfway decent when they changed the name of the network.  Just point, laugh and then get on with your day.  They really aren't worth more than that.

This is the cable channel version of arson. They should be charged with willfully trying to destroy a company.

can we, as a people, get over the farking ironic b-movies and just move on please

2013-10-18 04:20:12 AM
Stonado? That doesn't even work as a bad pun. It should be Storenado, where a tornado picks up a bunch of outlet stores that sell nothing but sharp farm and garden tools. The tagline can be "Get ready for wholesale destruction!"

Mix that with some gratuitous shots of hot girls in bikinis, and that's 95% of the screenplay finished already. Email me for contact information, SyFy execs, so you can send me your standard $25 script purchase fee through PayPal.

As far as I remember Sci Fi Network was always corny as hell. Their one good show was scraps from Comedy Central.

2013-10-18 05:41:12 AM
Stonado could be about the Lithobolia

2013-10-18 05:44:05 AM
That's a typo. it's the next Rocky flick, "Stallonado"

/Which would be a hell of a lot more entertaining.

What's that first film called?  Blood Suckers vs Gold Diggers?

I think they're really missing out on an opportunity here.  Air Sharknado 2: The Sharkening on the weekend, then the next Friday you have a hastily returned from the dead MST3K make fun of the very same movie.

I dunno about you but I would watch the hell out of that.

Me: "SyFy has been crap for a long time now."
Coworker: "Oh come on, it's not that bad they still show reruns of Star Trek and Stargate"
Me: "Exactly"

Fail tag? Failing all the way to the bank.

Yes, SyFy has lost its way like A&E, History 1,2, and 3 and to a certain extent Discovery channels have but I find these movies entertaining much in the same way I like 50s B scifi/horror movies with giant spiders, flying saucers etc. I am entertained. They will never be mistaken for Firefly but I like them.

Granted they will never bet the artistic masterpieces like Elysium or Jurassic Park II and III (snark fully intended) for example. I could pick apart good shows/movies like The Walking Dead for technical inaccuracies but they are like junk food-good to have on occasion.

Has Bluto gone rogue?

With Eureka and Warehouse 13 now gone, Syfy has nothing I care about anymore.  Maybe some day in the future they'll do another good series or even mini-series but I know of nothing on the horizon.  Do they still do old school sci-fi shows during the day?  Once upon a time when I worked third shift catching a few episodes of Manimal was better than trying to follow a Soap Opera.

Stond-ado to air on CSPAN.  A freak storm is created from the heat of the DEA burning several tons of genetically engineered pot.  The storm slowly moves over a near by Tea Party convention.   Watch in horror as the buffet runs out of food for the first time in 20 years.  Be filled with terror as sphincters that clenched since the Johnson administration are loosened by the smoke.  Feel the fear as dry, dusty minds unused for decades are slowly brought back to life.

It would be better if it were a tornado of fossilized sharks.

Earthsea was crap but I did enjoy Tinman, Alice and to some extent Neverland along with the two Dune minis.   I think you have a better than average chance to enjoy one of their miniseries than to not which is more than can be said of their movie track record.

Warehouse has another season coming. Well, half of one. I'm just saying that if I don't get to SEE the Claudia vs. Giles fight, I'll...come up with some way to gyp them.

And no. During the day they generally just run their movies. Not even the so-bad-they're-good ones, the genuinely crap ones they shouldn't have made in the first place. Or Friday the 13th the Series, which would be fine but I get that on Chiller.
