The homeowner thought a burglar was trying to break in and used his .45 caliber gun to fire at Gutheil's front windshield

What a brilliant burglary strategy: ram the house and wreck your getaway car!

Sounds like two future Darwin Award winners.

I'm glad that none of those .45 caliber bullets, fired in a dense urban area, ended up killing anyone.  Including the dumbass who drove his car into a house.

I'm so confused.  Does this fall into the category of "if pot were legal" this kind of thing wouldn't happen because the driver would get high and stay home rather than drink and drive or does this fall into the "protect gun rights" because the homeowner's gun was successful at not thwarting a drunk driver from hitting his house?  Maybe since it's so complicated we could blame it on gay marriage or Republicans?

I imagine alcohol was involved on the gun end too.

Wouldn't be the first time someone did it. Like the brain trust who used a X series BMW as a battering ram to get into an apple store. Not a stolen bmw either mind you.

Drunk people should get a pass because they're drunk?

What question exactly needed to be asked? Other than why is the homeowner using early 1900s technology to attack auto glass.

NOOOOO. THESE THINGS ALWAYS HAVE TO GET POLICTICAL.  ALMWYAS!  ALMASY?

Everybody who makes bad enough mistakes deserves to die for it. Just as long as somebody is getting shot and I can reconcile it as one of "them" getting theirs.

Don't be silly. Clearly this is the result of all that money the government wastes on food stamps.

Eh. The driver was still trying to operate the vehicle and as drunk as he was he'd already proved that he was a danger. Homeowner gets a pass.

I got to be honest, internet tough guy here, I would be hard pressed to not shoot the shiat out of someone who did this to my house.

Hitting it and THEN trying to drive away?  fark that guy.

No, you don't be silly. This is clearly an attempt by the Kenyan Seekrit Muslin Usurper to send the death panels after the old dude who was also in the house. The brave 'murricun with the gun frightened them away and the "drunk driving" thing is a false flag operation so we'll not figure out the truth.

/unless the homeowner is fat, then it's definitely the food stamps

Yet people do it all the time, although it's typically done to ram through the doors of businesses, it would work on a house just as easily.

So, if the guy wasn't drunk and was having a medical emergency and the homeowner shot at home like a complete moron...would he be charged with attempted murder.....of course not it's Florida.

You should Paypal me money to contribute to my Exploding Liver Fund.

I blame everything on consciousness. If I were unconscious I wouldn't know anything was wrong. And it's all YOUR fault! Yes YOU. Whoever you are. Isn't it wonderful to learn you're such a powerful beast?

Boy am I drunk. And unfortunately Obama had nothing to do with it. I might manage to brush my few remaining teeth before I pass out but flossing might have to wait till tomorrow.

As for The Fine Article, I would not have objected if one or more of those bullets had hit the drunken housecrasher. I gave up driving before I could get a DUI let Knievel into somebody's living room, and then I decided it was cheaper and easier to drink alone at home, so my conscience is clear. This has got to be that absolute minimum of common sense, and if I can do it anybody can.

Oh. Excuse me.

"And you could see the car trying to back out of the house. It hit the door and went through the house," he said, adding that he called 911.

The driver was not at fault- the car was trying to kill him.
