Death Wish 3 is a guilty pleasure.  Hard to believe they filmed it in London.

"They killed the Giggler man!!!"

Two threads in one day for a character actor? Hey, I liked him in The Longest Yard as much as anyone, but c'mon, man.

I think the guy that wrote that tribute had a stroke after sitting down at the keyboard.

I have seen him in more things than I can list, but only learned his name when reading that he had died. It was the same for Vincent Schiavelli. I guess it is like that for supporting actors who are never the lead role. Rest in peace.

I like that the article mentions his work there in Not Another Teen movie.  Dude was great poking some fun at himself and being a straight man.

I had to laugh at the comment in the article as Ed being the meanest Motherfarker in a Starfleet Uniform... and yet he played Joshua Alberts father in the 5th season episode "The First Duty" and if memory serves he was a fairly nice guy who had just lost a son.. far from being a mean guy.. LOL

He WILL be missed.. love the original "The Longest Yard" liked the remake... but barely...

Did his daughter ever find a man who could hammer a six inch spike through a board with their penis?

I confess I still haven't seen the original The Longest Yard, but Ed Lauter still looked familiar when I read of his passing. Finally I figured it out:  I remembered him from Revenge of the Nerds II (no, I'm not porud of that fact).  And then I saw him in an episode of "The X Files," and then in an movie my mother loves, called The Jericho MileJericho also starred Peter Strauss, who I remembered from as one of the voices from The Secret of NIMH.  It's funny how these connections go.  I'm sure Kevin Bacon's in there some where.

RIP, Mr. Lauter.  It's the easy-going, "happy to be here" folks like you that make the rest of us believe there is hope for Hollywood even still.

SkunkWorx: I'm sure Kevin Bacon's in there some where.

Bacon number of 2:  Lauter was in The New Centurions (1972) with Erik Estrada and Estrada was in We Married Margo (2000) with Bacon.
