A) I think you mean Senator
B) Snooki grew up in, and lived in, NY
C) If she became a politician in NJ, I think the entire state(D's and R's) would rise up in revolt.

RubberBandMan: Why has fiscally conservative governor Christie wasted taxpayer dollars for a special election so close to the November elections?

So he can win in a few weeks.  He did not want to be on the same ballot as Booker.  It would make his margins for victory much much smaller.  The last thing he wants is people from the blue parts of NJ more reasons to show up in November.

The only reason NJ has Republican governors is because our election cycle is shifted one year from the presidential cycle.  About the only time the masses can be bothered with the polls is when the president is being elected.  Otherwise whatever minority is motivated to vote gets to run the tables.

If we wanted representative government, we'd only have mail in ballots, it would be part of Form 1040, and you'd have to pay all your income to avoid providing a response.

Just wait to see what happens if Ted Cruz gets the nomination in 2016, could possibly be the first time a presidential candidate walks away with zero electoral college votes and about 5% of the popular vote.

The thing is Cruz would still get ~40% of the popular vote and around 150 EVs, because the residents of Greater Derpistan would willingly vote for Satan himself if he ran as a Republican.

Now, depending on a) the amount of stupid Cruz is willing to convey and b) who his opponent is, the question would not if he would concede but when.  Get a Biden or Elizabeth Warren as the Democratic candidate and that's not gonna be a fair fight for Cruz.

Wednesday special election intentionally scheduled a few weeks before normal statewide elections. Dem candidate in NJ is a young black bachelor and admitted vegetarian. Dirty campaign rumors that he may be gay and the only counter argument was that he may have been sexting with a white female exotic dancer. And he won by 10 points.

that's a sore subject with me, i believe that if a community is primarily speaking Spanish (whatever language) they should be allowed to have a true representative for their community that they choose.

there was a small border community in AZ that managed to turn away a Spanish speaking (potential) rep based on her inability to speak English, there was some stipulation that reps can not have translators (which would have been how she could communicate) so her community had to go with someone who was less popular but spoke English.

language barriers? in this day and age? i think not, it's just another tool used to limit culturally divers Americans.

Strippers are at least 15% of the NJ electorate.  HBO had a documentary that ran for several seasons following a family business of "waste management" and "construction" Job Creators in New Jersey, and this fact was highlighted.  It's too bad it ended abruptly.

You'd think she could fight that in the courts, given that we don't formally have an official language.  If the people of a community vote for a person who doesn't speak English, that's their will, and having at least one translator on a state or federal rep's staff wouldn't exactly be hard to arrange.

so he can run up the score and beat Buono by a metric fark load.  Then in 2016, he can try to prove his worth by saying "Look, in my last election, I beat the Democrat by 30/40 points"

Never mind the fact that she has no message and all she does is attack Christie and run on the fact she isn't him.  From all the ads and mails I've seen, none of them told me what SHE plans to do, just what HE did wrong.  One of them even emphasized the fact that her and her running mate are women, and only they understand what a woman needs, unlike Chris Christie.  (I'm serious and I wish I saved it)

It's a very small and unscientific sample, but remember the NY-23 special election in 2009.  Even though she withdrew, Scozzafava still got less than 6% of the vote.  Something like Huntsman v. Cruz v. Warren could easily go 49 (Warren)/30 (Huntsman)/20 (Cruz) because the TP asshats will vote for Cruz regardless.
