I shot the sheriff, but I added the deputy to my contact list?

I don't know. It just doesn't ring right.

CSB:

late last saturday night, I received a text from a number I do not know:  "Wood bat tomorrow leaving at 9 in the mourning".

I didn't text back.....could be baseball related...could just be bat beating related.

I'm guessing she got the Deputies number when she was a) working as a confidential informant b) victim/witness to a crime c) blowing him to get out of a ticket.

I think she deserves a mulligan on that text....

Duh, the deputy was using her to buy evidence that he could plant on someone later. It's all so obvious.

I once got a picture text message from a girl I didn't know, which was of her lady parts. She thought I was some guy named Jake.

And no, she wasn't someone I wanted to see naked

Chief:  Jones!  What the hell are you doing there!

Deputy (looks nervously at phone):  Uh. . .I'm setting up an undercover drug sting.  Dumb dealer accidentally texted me. *nervous laugh*

Chief:  Thinking like that will only end you up at one place: a promotion!  Round up the boys.

Deputy: Yes sir *feverishly deleting phone log*

Yeah I can imagine someone in her position has a phone with few contacts, or at least not having her "connections" saved as contacts.

I have received several texts meant for someone else.  I use a local carrier in a rather rural area, and thousands of people have the same prefix.   The texts were of a mundane nature, so I wondered why in the hell someone didn't just save their friends in their phone.

OTOH, my 64-year old mother has yet to set up her vmail, so I suppose mine were a case of an ol' country person not understanding the tech.

Which is disturbing, because Mom is who got me INTO computers as a child.  But now that she's retired, her relationship with anything tech pretty much ends with her cable TV.  She has almost no clue how to use email, her smartphone, etc.

shiat, for a few year period (as recently as last year) I'd have a couple people texting me some VERY personal information meant for the same person.  Stuff like hospitalization notifications, cancer treatment updates, etc.

The most consistent one I get is some automated appointment reminder for some kid's braces checkup from a dentist.

Puts me in mind of the day my DRUG DEALING NEIGHBOR was yelling I'm not a snitch to one of his cohorts outside my window.
