Officers commended the teen for his actions and using his instincts to report what he thought was a suspicious person.

What? So, we're commending people for being overly paranoid pussies now, and making up bullshiat stories about guys in van passing out candy to lure kids in? The police seem to be saying, "We investigated and found the kid and/or his mother are lying assholes, but we still commend them and think they did the right thing by lying to us!"... WTF??

The boy's mother told NBC 10 that her son stands by his version of events.

You mean the version where you conditioned him to assume that every stranger is a molester? Because that "offered candy from van" story is pretty farking silly no matter how creepy catguy is.

Any man who talks to a kid is a child molester.

Any woman who talks to a kid is a kind and motherly person.

For the IQ 80s here, here's what happened: Legit guy in van asked kid to help find cat. Kid gets creeped out (story doesn't help any here as to why), tells mom, then apparently decides to embellish the story with offers of rides and candy that didn't happen. Cops commending panicky kid and asshole mom because they have to..

Warwick police said Wednesday that a 13-year-old boy did the right thing by reporting what he thought was a suspicious person, but in the end allegations of an attempted abduction were unfounded.

Kids can tell the worst lies.

If you see a kid being attacked, or otherwise in distress, the best thing to do if you are male is to walk on by.

bigbobowski: he's a dude, probably lives alone, has a "cat", and a van. he needs to be locked up immediately, or at the very least registered as a future sex offender. at some point he WILL snap and start raping the sh*t out of the neighborhood kids.
/I don't have a van.
//so i'm good right?

If you think loneliness is the only thing required to make an otherwise normal person into a child predator, you really should be on a list somewhere.

NutWrench: fusillade762: The boy's mother said the man offered the boy candy and told him to get in the van.

Nothing sketchy about that at all, nosiree.

Very next sentence:

But police said in a news release that "there was no attempt to entice, lure or abduct the 13-year-old male involved."

If the mother made that up, she needs a swift kick in the twat.

yeah, article states two different stories

1. yeah, creepy guy offered me candy, told me to get in the rapist van, and touched me on my pee pee

2. I just asked a bunch of people if they saw my kitty and might be able to help

Actually had an incident like this a few years ago.  Someone reported a suspicious looking guy asking kids if they had seen his dog (no vans involved).  Apparently the guy saw the report in the paper and went to the police himself to let them know that, yes, he was looking for his dog.
