No shiat, when I was on a fishing trip in Costa Rica we were about 4 miles off shore and a rather venomous yellow-bellied sea snake swam right up to our boat as we were pulling a wahoo on board. Scared the heebee jeebees out of the wife whose fish we were pulling up. Screamed pretty loud

I have a problem related to this article.

My mom killed a diamondback yesterday with a broom. Am I allowed to call her Serpentslayer now?

Why not, it's what everyone else calls her.

As a kid I was out fishing with my dad and managed to catch a water moccasin on a frog shaped bass plug. That snake put up one helluva fight. I was having a blast until dad saw what I was reeling in and said "Please. Do. Not. Bring. The. Poisonous. Snake. Into. The. Boat!"

Years later I heard John Travolta use the exact same tone of voice in the movie "Broken Arrow".

Can someone please tell the man wearing the battered fedora and carrying a bullwhip that another entrance to the Well of Souls has been discovered?

I'll bet someone at The Asylum movie studio is already working on a script about this.

Coming later this year to a DVD bin near you...Snake-nami!

And I thought dodging tar balls and Portuguese man o' wars were the worst things to deal with when walking on Florida's Atlantic beaches.

"Oh, that's your cure for everything!"

It's a farking snake, leave it alone and it'll leave you alone.

not too long ago I had to rescue a common black snake from a couple of twits.. one of the farkers was trying to throw gasoline on it.

Laughed at him and asked what he though the gasoline was going to do to the snake and grabbed the poor (snake) up, tossed it into a pillow case and removed it from the area..

took me a couple of hours to realize that the farker was attempting to light the snake on fire and I got 100x more pissed off. and THEN I had that crises of conscious..

save the harmless snake, or let the guy succeed in lighting the snake on fire so it runs under the guys house and sets it on fire.

the snake is an innocent.. I'll always choose to save it

A fresh rattler, grilled over an open fire, with a splash of lemon juice.
Down home country cooking with a dash of flair.

After running over a 5' Timber rattler on a county road it still managed to slither away. My brother got out and blew its head off with a 410 shotgun. We put it on the hood of the car to take back to camp and skin. As we were driving, the heat from the engine must have stimulated its cold blooded nerves. The snake reared up and began striking the passenger side windshield with this shredded bloody headless knob, blood smearing about the glass. My poor mother sat in the passenger seat shrieking.

And yes i've seen rattle snakes swimming in lakes in Texas.

A tube shaped animal composed of mostly muscle is a good swimmer?

Really? You don't say?

I thought almost everyone knew that. Seen 'em offshore, just past the breakers, a couple times, saw a sea snake once, when it came up on shore, another person on the beach killed it. I felt sorry for the snake. Spiders, on the other hand, not enough fire for that.

Scorps dont bother me, just spiders, and centipedes. Nuke the entire site from orbit.

If it was Kubel or Montero, I doubt anyone would notice but would congratulate her if they did.

I guess people assume they would sink and drown? My understanding is all snakes can swim.

One time we were fixing broken legs in the projects and a helicopter flew over. A 10' rattler was flying it and we shot it down with a Stinger. In spite of falling 1,000 feet, it came out of the fireball shouting.  Floyd threw a sharpened frisbee that cut it in half, but it grew a new head and was still screaming. We ran in an apartment. Those snakes was ringing the doorbell for days and talking all kinds of shiat. We took some weed and hotboxed them through the mail slot.  Floyd came out first and they ate him. I won a Nobel Prize a year later, and I gave the money to snake research.

I know I'm late to the party but I recall when an El Nino blew through during the 90s and Lake Hodges overflowed over the dam (North San Diego), there were reports of snakes showing up on beaches, live and dead.

Not news! Just scaring the masses!
