East Coast hip hop from the '90s was great. Even though I was this industrial kid back then, I was in NYC often in the early '90s and hung out in random people's apartment parties.

Youth is awesome.

Low End Theory is one of the best albums, hip-hop or otherwise of the last 30 years.

/Speaking of "real hip-hop", Deltron released their 2nd album a few weeks ago. Nothing ground breaking like the first one was, but if you liked 3030, you'll like Event II.

Man the 90s were the last era where real rap/hip hop was actually marketed... Now you gotta go digging deep in the web...   I will never understand how singing a few lines of non-rhyming lines followed by repeating the chorus line 8,000,000,000,000 times because the blueprint for modern rap/hip hop. It's awful.. Yet it somehow sells

I queued it up and just can't agree. It sounds terribly dated.

Even within the genre, I can think of a handful that are better offhand. I wouldn't put it in the top 10 of hip hop albums, much less of all time.

As an artifact of its time, it is an interesting example of proto-new school style. You could possibly say it was critically important to hip hop, but I would say only as a motivator for others to create their own music. But even in that case, the style they had is dead. I'd put The Chronic way above TLET in terms of impact.

It's not a Quest reunion unless Jarobi White's there to contribute half a verse.
