Good thing it's not the other way around. People tend to get beaten when Adrian Peterson hands things off.

Hmmm. I bet that leaves Christian pondering his NFL future.

Gotta be a little depressing to marry an NFL QB and then have him be replaced by a free agent mid-season just to see if anything else is better.

This will either be good or a trainwreck of Vince Young proportions

Yes. Either the Buccs or the Vikings have made an awful mistake.

Could someone please make sure the Delhomme Meter is calibrated and tested early?  This game could very well break it.

it is going to be bad. I think the Vikes are going to try to lose out this season and hope that the Giants win a couple of games in the stretch so they can go up in the draft. Their team is an absolute embarrassment.

Also, I'd probably go with a headline sying the Giants got their first win, but Eli Giants.

It won't be awful for the Vikings. They weren't going to do anything with either Ponder or Cassel anyway. Might as well take a shot and see if Freeman can turn it around, and if he can't, you're not out anything beyond the salary you paid him.

Well, first things first.

The Christian Ponder Era
The Matt Cassel Era

The Josh Freeman Era

Alright in all honesty, how long does it take to learn an NFL offense? Cause some talking heads better stfu about how complicated offenses are if you can learn them in a week.

/granted learning to take two steps back and extend your arm is probably easy

The vikings offense? Uhh hand to ap, don't fumble the snap, hand to ap.

The quarterback position was "a" problem on this team. The fact that Leslie Frazier is a defensive head coach who is incapable of coaching defense is the biggest problem, followed closely by Bill Musgrave's play calling and personnel packages.

GOD FORBID OUR FIRST ROUND RECEIVER PLAY MORE THAN 10 SNAPS A GAME

Which is why they see 8, 9, and even 10 man fronts on every down. That's why they brought Freeman in. He'll actually throw the ball down field and keep defenses honest.

The Vikings signing Freeman at worst can do no more harm than the money wasted, if he proves a boon its the buccs who blew it.

This guy is right.  If you are in a FARK fantasy football league you need to grab Jerome Simpson and Cordarrell Patterson right now.  Drop whoever you need to, it doesnt matter these guys are going to blow up.  You know how both Decker and Thomas started putting up good games when the Broncos switched from tebow to Manning?  This is going to be 10x that.

I just put in for Simpson.  I really know shiat about the Vikings this year and haven't seen them play at all, but since Cobb broke his leg, I might as well pick up another WR even though my it's my strongest part of my team.  I see that Jerome Simpson has yards than Cordarrelle Patterson, so that was the deciding factor.

Jarius Wright and Greg Jennings too, but not before Simpson and Patterson.

Patterson has been awesome when he's played. The reason he doesn't have as many yards as Simpson is because they haven't been using him for some reason.

You're speaking of Josh Freeman?  The same Josh Freeman who was completing 55% of his passes when all he had to do was loft it to Mike Williams and Vincent Jackson?

I just picked up Simpson. Seeing as having some decent talent on my FF team hasn't amounted to jack so far, I figure I might as well throw caution to the wind.

if you have a roster spot to burn, grab Austin Collie or one of Aaron Rodgers' new targets.

I thought about Collie, but I already have one injured Patriot on the bench. I don't really need to take another.

You'd think a QB with ADD would be a good thing. He probably goes through his progressions 5 times before he takes his 3rd step back. Not so focused on his #1 receiver that he tries to force a bad pass.

2013-10-17 09:21:31 AM
was really hoping Minnesota would waste their season on Ponder and/or Cassell and stay out of the Freeman market, he's a big upgrade over what they already had.  Not saying he's gonna turn them around quickly, but he's got a good arm and has a few targets on offense not named Adrian...and he can also tuck and run.

/go pack

Also, I could only wish we'd actually give it to AP that often.

You know, if you are down 21 pts in the second half of a game, and your passing game is only so-so, why would you STOP giving the ball to your best player? AP has proven to be a home run type of player time and time again. Stick with what you are good at. If he only tpouches the ball 10 times in ANY game you are doing it wrong.

Musgrave's offense doesn;t call for 3 receivers very often. You are paying alot of money to Jennings, who has been solid all year if anyone actually throws the ball at him. That leaves Jerome SImpson, who has actually showed signs of competancy this year.

So basically: Blame Musgrave.

when it's your job that pays hundreds of thousand or even millions to play a game that you've been playing since middle school, i would assume one week is about all you need.  it's not like josh was filling out tps reports 9-5 and trying to cram the playbook in during happy hour.  it's his fark job.

At this point Freeman was not going to work out in Tampa, so no matter how well he does in the future it doesn't really change how bad they blew it with him.  They already wasted a first round pick, then the Vikings only had to give up a 4th rounder, and for a starting NFL QB that's chump change.  What, they didn't get a 4th.  5th?  No, well, at least a 6th is something.  Not even a 6th?  Crap, settling for a.........oh, yeah, THEY GOT NOTHING!  So yeah, the blowing it portion by the Bucs is over to me, no matter how well he does.

Man, you really mad at Musgrave!  I'm definitely not a fan of the 2 receiver set in this day and age of efficiency.  2 receivers with shotgun or 5 step drops kill me.  You're essentially selling out and telling the safeties to stand back 18 yards and run with the guy who's already covered by a cornerback.  The problem is that sometimes a guy like Roethlisberger gets away with and wins rings or gets to the playoffs because he has (had) an offensive line and Hines Ward and Mike Wallace and Santonio Holmes, so naturally it verifies the old minds.  Like Musgrave.

Taking it a step further, not that Cassel is a perenniel SB answer, but the man was raised in the NFL on throwing short, quick routes in 3 receiver sets (though again, it helps to have a Wes Welker and Randy Moss) at 63% and won 11 games!  You can't tell me that a slot receiver, with Jennings, Simpson, and Kyle Rudolph (and with help from AP and Gerhart) aren't perfectly capable of moving the chains in that kind of passing offense while still having the one-man running attack they already have.
Bonus: they keep their defense off the field.

The 2 WR 2 TE sets and even the 1 WR 2 TE, 2 RB sets could work IF YOU THREW TO BOTH YOUR PASS CATCHING TIGHT ENDS.

But we don't.

So it doesn't.

So this offense is just too conservative.

/heres to Freeman pulling a Grossman and just going deep with it
