Townhall is a kind of "media" and they're saying it, so technically they're correct....the best kind of correct.

Townhall?

Why don't you come back when you have a more reliable source, like a talking Fish or Angel.

Why would Abe Vigoda or David Boreanaz be an authority?

Nitpick: the single version of media is medium.

/Might as well nitpick that it's  "it's" and not "its" while I'm at it.

//I keep saying it.

I said it before: getting handed a sh*t sandwich and, after refusing to eat it, are handed a half a sh*t sandwich isn't compromising.  It's still a sh*t sandwich.

So the townhall guy is quoting a couple tweets from chuck todd and ezra klein saying that the GOP plan is reasonable...but that plan never made it to a vote because the leadership knew it wouldn't pass...

Tea-tards win again.

Somehow the DNC blocked the GOP in bringing it to a vote.  Somehow (using magic or Pelosi biatchcraft)

Nice strawman libtards.

Townhall is not the only legitimate source for this story.

I walked by a crazy street person on 45th street this morning that was saying the same thing.

Thank you. Repealing the medical device tax defunds the ACA, making it cost more and thus creating a scenario where opponents can say "See, we told you it would suck!" And adding deficit reduction that is all spending cuts is the worst thing we could do right now. Ask the UK how those spending cuts are working for them.

It's not just a trainwreck.

It's a GOP trainwreck full of orphan children that got set on fire and the GOP firemen ran around pissing on them in order put the fire out, while a handful of other GOPers run around setting them back on fire again.  On live TV.

As much as I'd like some schadenfreude, my business all but stopped on 10/1. September was record month, up until the last day (the whole year, in fact was on pace to be record setting), but as soon as the shutdown became official, new business ground to a halt.

2013-10-16 11:12:26 AM
Would this be the compromise that the GOP would not vote for? It must have been reasonable then.

Same here.  October has been a bloodbath.  Thankfully my bosses are understanding and are giving me a chance to turn things around when the government STFU and GBTW.

Sure, you can have the removal of the 2.7% medical device tax, which will surely "destroy some jobs and drive some manufacturers overseas." And you can have your extra income verification standards. Fine.

In exchange, we also reinstate the Gephardt Rule, which forces Congress to increase the debt ceiling every time they increase spending, and we also change back House Rule XXII, Clause 4 to once again allow someone other than the Speaker or Majority Whip to bring a Senate bill to vote.

Sounds reasonable to me. I'm sure the GOP will go for that.

Is this the GOP compromise that was supposed to come from the House, but never actually saw the light of day and has already been trashed by the House GOP?

Yea, so, who farking cares what is was then?

They still don't understand. There is no negotiation, no compromise, none. Pass a clean CR and clean debt ceiling raise or the economy is toast. President Obama tried to be reasonable two years ago and they took him for everything they could or would ever get.

The Republicans got it all two years ago the last time we were at this point. There is nothing else to give in a "compromise", nothing. They have pushed Obama and the Democrats to the brink and the only thing left is for everybody to go over into the abyss.

But if the GOP offered a little steak sauce...oh who are we kidding. They wouldn't share their steak sauce.

Similar here. The sequester has made this year disappointing enough, but since a week or two before October 1st (many people anticipated this and started delaying their business with us just before the official shutdown date) it's been an absolute bloodbath. People are getting laid off, and small mom & pop competitors of ours have been going out of business. Farking GOP.

Sorry guys, but I have it on excellent authority** that government spending cannot create jobs or help the economy.  Your businesses must be suffering because you aren't giving enough of your tax dollars to REAL job creators, praised be their hedge funds and secret foreign accounts.

**What authority could be more excellent than the most fair and balanced network on television?

Is it so much, in the end, sir, is it then so much to ask of the nation's leader, that you make some modest compromises on your healthcare law, such as defunding it entirely, and repealing it, and avowing that you forced it through with the sole intention of destroying America, and then beheading yourself on the White House lawn with a rusty olive fork?

Is it so much?
