We can watch TV with no sound at work, so we like closed captioning.  But it's horrible.  We end up spending more time making fun of it and make a game out of trying to figure out what is being said.  I tried getting with the station in question to ask about getting it fixed.  They don't care.  They just assume that only deaf, or elderly people use it.

I thought inakurate was a Japanese word until I finished reading the headline.

Of course they don't care, as it's just another government mandate.

Those subtitles don't get laid enough as it is, having them delaid is just mean.

Watching the subtitle guy try to keep up with sports announcers can be funny.

There have been a few gems that have caused this...

"We will now observe a minute's violence for the Queen Mother."

"The service will be conducted by the Arch Biatch of Canterbury."

"Thatcher's coughing (coffin) being carried to her funeral. The procession will pass through the old witch (Aldwych)."

What's wrong with subtitties?

They're still miles better than the automated closed captioning on the youtube.  I turn that sucker on now and then for a good bit of surreal comedy.

I was watching the Cowboys game a couple weeks ago and the CC kept getting stuck on "FOR 247 YARDS". "TONY ROMO FOR 247 YARDS SNEAKS THE BALL LEFT AND SLIDES OUT OF BOUNDS FOR 247 YARDS". Every run or pass or anything else was for 247 yards. It was hilarious to read.

My favorite was a "urine big trouble" popping up on screen once.
