Short version: pretty good by Russian Standards(they haven't gassed a theater full of civilians and nobody's committed suicide via 10 gunshot wounds to the back of the head)

FTFA: Ironically, 2013 was declared the "Netherlands Russia Year", with events designed to strengthen bilateral friendships, the BBC's Anna Holligan reports from The Hague.

That's just tempting fate.

The attackers also reportedly daubed a heart on a mirror in lipstick with the letters LGBT, an abbreviation for "lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender", a police source told Russia's Interfax news agency.

Wait, what? The Russians are getting their thugs to run false flag missions to tarnish the gay community now?

This isn't anything like the Bourne Supremacy.

Putin is an ex-thug, so if you make trouble, he send thugs.

/or, if you're Kasparov, he send helicopter penis to make silly.

Or started a war with the permission of the Germans.

A "Dutch Russian" sounds like something you'd find on Urban Dictionary. Something involving a goat and a windmill.

Cozy up to a thug, expect to be put in your place. There's a reason that Russia's best friends are nations with no one else to turn to.

Great. The LGBT people are hiring  lipstick-wielding hitpersons now.

What are they complaining about?  If it wasn't Netherlands/Russia year, the Greenpeace ship would have been torpedoed and the survivors machine gunned in the water.  The Russians where showing great restraint, in honor of Netherlands/Russia year.  I, also, imagine this is going mean that the big Netherlands/Russia parade in Moscow will be call off.  They were going to have Russian military units march through Red Square, with Edam cheeses stuck on their bayonets.

It isn't quite like that. There used to be quite a good bond between the two countries. But then the revolution happened and everything went to shiat. Now politicians are trying to "patch" things up in the hope that Russia will be able to provide trade benefits.

It is more like meeting an old friend you haven't seen for years and then trying to go on with the way things were.

/Like anyone knew it was Russia year

--- I thought it would be a Russian who was more tolerant and worldly.

Putin saved Dutchland from starvation in the 90s and this is how they repay him?

Read that as "2013 is Neanderthal Russia Year".

Oh I know - I do understand the incentives. Comment was 75% snark.

As I Russian speaker, I would like to note a discrepancy with the statement here: "Mr Lavrov had called the assault a "serious crime". " Mr Lavrov likely used the Russian word "pristuplenya," which indeed means "crime," but also means a strongly negative "act," or "doing." I'm not sure if I have the meaning right, but while calling this a "serious crime" may sound a little flippant, the meaning is actually stronger and more condemning.

And how would you have conducted that theater raid to minimize casualties, Mr. Smart-guy?
