Is there a link to the video in the article? You'd think there would be one in an article about the popularity of an online video, but if there is one, I'm completely missing it.

If not, does anyone have a link to it?

I hope the tunnel was closed to repair all the concrete missing from the roof.

Holy crap, do people just shut their eyes and drive solely by voice navigation?

You know what?  He farked up, acknowledged responsibility, and is happy to serve as a warning to others despite the public humiliation.

Good for him.

Wouldn't a "near miss" be a hit?

If the driver used Waze, there's a fair chance the stopped cruiser would be on his GPS.

Why use GPS in a tunnel? Where you gonna go?

2013-10-16 10:28:06 AM
I was distracted by the bright lights and fancy gadgets in my car

What the driver may look like

Police lights directly ahead of you and you don't notice them? He wasn't just slightly distracted he obviously had his eyes closed so he could think better.

I had my GPS stolen last week, listed on Craigslist the following day, and the cops won't do anything about it even though I gave them the serial number and a copy of the ad, so I'm getting a kick out of these replies.

macadamnut: Why use GPS in a tunnel? Where you gonna go?

In that tunnel the GPS cuts out anyways and if your GPS unit is good, it will have listed beforehand which tunnel exit you need to take if you're not driving the full tunnel length. There's really no reason to keep looking at the GPS inside the tunnel.

And I used to be distracted by my GPS while driving, but now I turn off the voice navigation. I like it much better. But then I can read a map to drive and navigate places, so just looking at a GPS is fine enough.

Thank you.  How farkign lazy are journalists these days?

I always ask the desk clerk how to use it, if they don't know I then say "why the fark is it in the car?"

My aunt's Honda Odyssey has just about the slickest system I've ever found.   You can punch in the real world coordinates then rotate the local destination options THEN rotate routes from where you are to there with a couple button pushes.   Forty-five thousand dollar minivan, one of the most comfortable and best handling vehicles I've ever driven.
Lots of option packages including a plug-in air conditioner loop so you can stop by camp-grounds and stay overnight.  Its many years old now and still bad-ass and handles great.

The GPS even has two volume levels, one is an "are we there yet" announce to the vehicle and the other is driver-only instructions that is louder but only goes to the front seats.
It also doesn't make you panic, if you miss your turn it will wait a moment to tell you.

The cop was parked really close to that center lane. A smarter cop would have moved over to the left a lot more when parking like that... on a blind curve... what a troll.

No kidding. We're going to write an article about a video, then not include the video. I even clicked on the picture thinking it would play.

Trapster tells me where the stopped cop cars are.

/On I-75 it's mostly only has live updates on big travel weekends.  Is it or a competitor used more often in other parts of the country?
