Mcavity: The Homer Tax: MindStalker: DrPainMD: "Hope and change" Obama turned out to be nothing more than G.W. Bush III, and he got re-elected.

He changed to match the realities that are the office. A single president can't change much. But he certainly has gotten a lot done given the stranglehold that congress has on him.

Here's what I don't get, of Obama is just another GW Bush, why do Republicans hate him so much? They loved GW Bush.

because hes just so Bla...

He even met them half way on that and it wasn't good enough for them.

DrPainMD: Alphax: It certainly puts down, like a mad dog, the idea that Republicans can be negotiated with.  They can't even agree with themselves, nor will they keep their word on anything.

Why would they keep their word? "Hope and change" Obama turned out to be nothing more than G.W. Bush III, and he got re-elected. As long as people hold their noses and vote for the candidate they hate the least, nobody in D.C. is going to pay any attention to what the people want.

Both sides are bad, so let's start an easily prevented global financial meltdown.

Some 'Splainin' To Do: Does anyone remember that scene in Rome where Marc Antony is supposed to veto a symbolic measure to declare Caesar an outlaw but gets shouted down by a mob of senators before he can actually raise the veto, with the end result being the destruction of the Republic over a measure that no one, including the people who raised it, wanted to actually pass?

Yeah, I'm kind of getting that feeling while watching this mess. Let's hope that the consequences for our own republic won't be as dire.

Actually, four centuries of drinking, whoring, and feeding Christians to lions sounds pretty good!

But it's the Obama shutdown and Democrats won't negotiate.

Ricardo Klement: The Tea Party is a cancer and it's metastasized in the party's leadership. We're going to get a whole hell of a lot sicker if we undergo chemo and radiation therapy, but we'll live. Unfortunately, the cancer gets a vote.

If the Affordable Care Act ends up prolonging the lives of aging Republican/teabagger voters so they can keep gumming up the country with their dementia, then it really will have been as damaging to the US as they claimed.  Maybe that's what they've been trying to warn us about this whole time!

There's a phrase that i heard someone say back around 2010, and it's been getting a lot of use in my household:

"I would rather whittle the tip of my dick off with a carrot peeler than vote for a Republican ever again."

Snappy.

/voted for Perot instead of Clinton, eternal shame.

Juding by the attempts at legislation coming out of the house, it looks more like a bath salts buffet.

They certainly sound worse when you tell blatant lies.

It takes two to lie:  One to lie, and one to listen.  Shame on you, libtard.

pueblonative: liam76: How does that election work?

Do they all vote, or does the dominant party?

Theoretically, the speaker doesn't even need to be a representative.  Of course, theoretically I could end up banging Kate Upton too.

Let the House Rs split between Boehner and Cantor, then the Ds can vote Hillary in as Speaker.

It's rather telling that "I never lost a vote" Pelosi hasn't brought anything to the table. At least Beohner is trying to  negotiate with steadfast Democrats to solve the mess they made.

Here's an artist rendition of Boner with his 49k buying a loaf of bread after he destroys the economy.

personally I don't think the artist made him tan enough but whatever...

You SEVERELY UNDERESTIMATE the potential danger the democrats pose. This shutdown will continue. And fear will keep the local gerrymandered districts in line.

I always wondered....

If Boehner is Tarkin... does that make Cruz Vader?

I think of Cruz as more of a Gen. Motti type.  Admit it, if you got mind choke powers for a day that would be the douche you'd use it on.

You're giving Bush too much credit; his second Secretary of Transportation was a graduate of the University of Phoenix. No, I'm not kidding.
