I really love this story. I want to know more about this guy, and what changed his life. I'm angry about his shade tree.

How could he do this with the government shutdown and debt ceiling default? DRTFA yet.

Oh, I don't know. Something about federal this or federal that. Or maybe they privitized it in a secret deal and sold it to the highest bidder so it's not federal any more.

Got to hear this guy on NPRs report while driving home from North Carolina just this weekend.

When the somewhat starry eyed reporterette asked him what he'd have done differently, if he had it to do over again, he said plainly , that were he the same man he is today, in a younger mans body, he'd probably do it all the same.

No bullshiatter, he

Well, I judged based on the comment "the gvt run radio station " , plus - this wasnt recent. I know- reading and listening can be hard.
As far as govt funding- we spend so much on foreign aid- why do you hate all things considered or Big Bird ? The best part about public media ?  No commercials . And when its for kids programming or news, that means a lot to me- no influence to BUY BUY BUY this toy, etc.

Really it does not matter. You bring up big bird. Bigbird makes alot of money. So it does not need any tax breaks or gov funding. And listening to All things is like listening to Hannity Just really painful.  Like gouge your eyes out pinful. They dont have commercials. Because I dont think they could get any. I work in radio and NPR is a joke. Its considered a place where people go that have no talent. Cant get a deal. I dont care what kind of company you run. Cars, oil, Bigbird. There is a point that you have made so much on your product. You no longer get any gov tax breaks or subsidies.

Whats Sesame Street. Corp for Public broadcasting or something. I personally think since its been so subsidized by the gov for so long. It is gov property. The gov should sue for ownership.

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/...
It looks like they make about $53,000,000 per year (This is Sesame Workshop ONLY. You know that the toy manufacturers and Jim Henson's estate get big chunks of the profit, too). As the article points out, that pays for about 93% of the production costs of Sesame Street.
Of course, that is the ONLY program on PBS that makes that kind of money. You don't see too many Arthur or Bill Nye the Science Guy toys, and, as the article points out, they don't sell many News Hour with Jim Lehrer plushies.

I would add- if you think Sesame Street is rolling in dough due to all of the dolls and toys, its obvious that you have never worked in the field of licensing, where someone can use a likeness or a character to make things and gives you peanuts compared to how much they make of of the items.

I jst want to go back to something I said. I understand why NPR and PBS was set it. You know the old Emergency broadcast system. Thats what it was for. So the gov could get info out in a war. But with cable ans sat TV now. Its just not needed. They should be treated just like any other station or network.

Holy mother of kornflakes is some asshat really saying NPR is for people who cant break into real radio!? Why is that hm? Maybe cause most people who "make it" in radio are shiatbags who peddle to the lowest common denominator. Dr. laura, Limbaugh, Delilah or the effing Tman are all dbags and the only people who listen to them are other dbags. And since America is chock farking full of dbags they are the ones who make it. NPR is full of quality stuff that dbags can't farking stand. "omg too slow and monotone wah wah wah. Go back to drinking your farking brawndo. NPR is full of things that matter to anyone with an IQ over 100 and my bet is that you, like the people you apparently work for, are coming up short.
