Quirky? I think the word subby is looking for is "adorkable".

This joke was better back before The New Girl became really funny at the end of season 1.

Hipster porn.
How far can she take the bangs?

Does she still need a phone to tell her if it's raining instead of just looking out the window?

HotIgneous Intruder: Hipster porn.
How far can she take the bangs?

Pretty far. I'm pretty sure she's only gone bangless 3 times in all of New Girl.

It did get a lot better didn't it?   That seems to happen a lot of times with ensemble shows.  They just need that chance for the cast to gel, and once that happens I think the writers are able to more easily see which relationships and interactions will have the most payout.  Who would have predicted the Schmidt/Winston due as being one of the best comedy pairs on the show in the first couple episodes?

Only celeb I can think of that's unrecognizable without bangs.

I find it funny that Damon Jr. is coming back to the show.

Well, they really tweaked her character. She's totally different from what she was in the first couple episodes. For the better. She's actually an attractive person now, as opposed to that mess of a person in the pilot.

I'm still a "New Girl" fan. While I'm not thrilled with the turns this season is taking, I think they have the possibility to take it back.

I look at last season and I still laugh my ass off at some episodes. And even the ones I don't, I think the writing/acting still shows some great spots in every episode.

2013-10-15 08:16:25 PM
The only reason New Girl is still around is because of the guys. They carry that show. If you took her out and replaced her with, say, Barbara Walters - It would still work. The girl is cute, but that psuedo-geek crap gets annoying real fast both on TV and in real life regardless of who's doing it.

And lets give credit where credit is due. This silly, stupid sitcom - SITCOM - managed to pull of one of the top 3 on screen kisses I've ever seen in my life. shiat like that matters when it comes to judging overall quality. It gets you invested, and no one thought New Girl was capable of that after the first few episodes.

They abandoned the geeky/quirky thing a long time ago. Jess' main characteristic now is her yelling at people and getting irrationally angry. And its funny.

My wife watches this show regularly, so I have been exposed to it from the beginning ... anyway, Jess still very-much-so has that adult-acting-twelve-years-old quirky edge that makes her presence equivalent to nails-on-chalkboard. And the show itself went down a really bad road when they got her together with Nick. There is zero chemistry there. It looks awkward and forced. Just standing next to each other, they look like they're from different planets. I still say they should replace her with Barbara Walters for a higher quality show.

Nick Miller is currently my favorite TV character. I understand him to an unsettling degree.

Eh, she's just producing the shows.  That's like saying JJ Abrams has a new show coming because "Almost Human" is from Bad Robot Productions.

Also, New Girl is pretty fantastic now, for all the reasons everybody else has raised.

Well, if you don't like the personality type she plays on the show, that's fine. I agree with you that in real life I could never be with someone like that, it would drive me insane. But I find it amusing to watch.

Fantasy menage a three for me, Number 23: me, Zoey Deschanel, Katy Perry, and Emily Blunt. It's like an orgy of clones!

She's really cute and I'm not a sharp knees, keyboard warrior - but dude....the fuzzy hair on the face thing is a bummer.

She was on Leno a few weeks ago (pretty sure it was leno,   could have been one of the other late night talk shows)  talking about being on tour with her band.   Long story short,   I remember thinking that she was either stoned,  really really tired or mildly autistic.

Judging by that and a couple of the movies I've seen her in, that appears to be the way she always is.

Said something similar just the other day. I think Schmidt and Nick are hilarious, but Zoey and Winston could easily be swapped out with no loss of quality. And the Winston character switches too easily from being the voice of reason to being the guy who's fixated on getting his cat laid. Verbal slapsticky humor is funny and can be semi-believable, but Winston's over-the-top wackiness is stupid.

Also, I made the mistake of watching some of the outtakes from the show online, and Zoey comes across as a humorless b#tch in a lot of them... people around her break character and laugh about flubbing a line, and she breaks character by staring at them, stonefaced.

Nah. The original incarnation made the mistake of getting too steeped in its own internal mythology and eventually wrote itself into a corner. The reincarnation made the mistake of getting too gory.

I like the concept of what happens to the Manic Pixie Dream Girl, when the cameras stop filming.  That's the whole premise for "The New Girl".  I like it.

Actually I think the word is "intolerable".  I don't think she's ever been in a single production that I could even put up with for ten solid minutes.
