Does anyone still play Angry Birds? I thought their 15 minutes were up 30 minutes ago

I will be playing this when available.

Are there any good Mario Kart clones available now? Preferably something that is multiplayer, but I am not even sure that is possible in Android.

The kart racer is pretty much the funeral dirge of any series.

I hate that.  Most of the way through, and then have to start over from the beginning again.

Could be worse, EA could be doing a PvZ FPS.

There was at least one Sonic the Hedgehog cart racer.

Also, this looks really fun.

Also, this looks like something built around in-app purchases.

Every MK after the first one and GBA version is crap. Rubber-banded, blue-shell crap.

Mod Nation Racers is a good one. Online multiplayer over PSN and you can build your own custom tracks.

My wife sitll plays Angry Birds, its one of those games when you have a few minutes to spare - fling a bird and enjoy it.

/I play it once a month or so?

I still do on occasion.  The game is still enjoyable.  I certainly don't spend any money on it but it does do a good job blowing a few minutes here or there when I've exhausted my usual Internet sites.

Crash team racing was actually a very decent kart game.

Also, kart > all other driving games.

Someone stopped at the n64 one I see.

Double dash didn't rubberband, and the wii mk I don't think does either. Instead they are just ballers at shelling you from behind.

Yeah. Too make Kart games already. Don't care.  Mario has the whole genre in the bag, anyway.

Incorrect. Not to mention the very nature of Mario Cart power ups has a built in rubber band effect.

As long as it's any Burnout before paradise (where they hosed the series by doing a more need-for-speed like playstyle)

// and now it seems like they're trying to turn need for speed into more of what burnout was

First, I specifically memtioned powerups :)

Second, fair enough and I stand corrected. But I have lapped the 2nd place racer in double dash iirc, so it wasn't the game ruiner that 64's was.

I also pull significant leads in the wii version. Although I don't play it a ton, so maybe it is worse than my recollection.

If the rubberband is set appropriately, what is wrong with an ai that keeps itself competitive?

SuperTuxKart (http://supertuxkart.sourceforge.net) is a lot of fun, and it is free. Or you can use an emulator to play the original.

Nothing really. I just like to bash mario cart because I'm not very good at it, and I hate the way the powerups are given out. Honestly I stumbled upon that link after reading the thread and googling "mario kart rubberband"

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is an awesome kart racing game.  The powerups tend to rely more on skill than Mario Kart, and the hard mode is actually hard without being unfair.  Plus the levels and vehicles change mid-race.  Easily my favorite kart racer.

There's about 1.4 million people playing AB Star Wars 2 according to Game Center. (I'm currently in 3rd place, thanks for asking.) Add in Android and PC versions and there's probably over 5 million players. Updates and new games coming out on a regular basis, the franchise is very strong right now.
