The worst bombing on stage since Miley Cyrus at the VMAs

Awww...I liked the "boom mic" headline myself.

If it is okay for Muslims to go around blowing up mosque then why do they have a problem when other people do it?

Seal Afghanistan and Pakistan off from the outside world. Almost nothing good comes from those places, and if 12 years of foreign troop occupation trying to install something resembling a moderate government won't fix it, nothing will.

That must have been a very powerful and tiny bomb. That must have been gruesome. People a few rows back would have just seen his head explode. Gross.

How is it even terrorism if, as the article says, no one has claimed responsibility? Shouldn't this be presumed to be a freak accident? I mean, stuff explodes sometimes. Especially stuff with electrowires

I've never seen a normal microphone explode and kill 1 person and injure 18 others.

2013-10-15 01:15:43 PM
Underneath one of the pictures, the caption states, "No has claimed responsibility for the killing."

Didn't James Bond push him into a nuclear reactor or something?

2013-10-15 01:15:49 PM
This is not quite terrorism.   This is assassination.     Anyone who would claim responsibility would be saying "ya we desecrated a mosque", and that's not happening.

2013-10-15 01:16:00 PM
FTFA: There was no immediate claim of responsibility.  and No has claimed responsibility for the killing.

Why are we suppose to think the Taliban did this?

I'm absolutely certain if we go into in Afghanistan, we will be greeted in the streets as liberators and the war will pay for itself.

Also, WMDs.

A bad cut and paste from

No one immediately claimed responsibility for Tuesday's attack but the Taliban have been targeting Afghan officials, military and NATO troops as part of their campaign to retake territory as international troops draw down ahead of a full pullout at the end of 2014.

Maybe?

First thing I thought of.

I I maintain that targetting the mosques in the first round of airstrikes would have greatly increased our success in that war.

I'd just like to point out that someone gets killed like this on Grand Theft Auto V. EXACTLY like this. One of the characters has to set it up and detonate the device as the speaker greets the crowd, while he watches it on TV.

Why aren't we blaming video games for this one? Seems as likely as the Taliban, given the information.

I think the "SAD" tag is a lot more appropriate than scary.  I think we often lose sight of the fact that most victims of terrorism are Muslims in predominately Muslim countries.  None of us are likely to ever be hit by terrorists, despite what knuckleheads like Sofa King Smartsay.

This.

Good article:

Here

And from the beginning, because it deserves to be repeated:

In case you haven't kept up, below is a very partial box score of global Islamist violence during the month of September:

Kenya: Militants of the Somali jihadist group Al Shabaab attack the upscale Westgate Mall in Nairobi, slaughtering visitors with grenades and machine guns, separating out some Muslims from non-Muslims, in a killing spree that ends three days later with an assault by the Kenyan military. Death toll: at least sixty men, women, and children, along with several soldiers and militants.

Somalia: Al Shabaab car and suicide bombers blow up the restaurant the Village in Mogadishu for the third time. Death toll: fifteen patrons and staff.

Pakistan: Suicide bombers detonate themselves outside a Protestant church in Peshawar. Death toll: eighty-five.

A remote-control bomb explodes on a bus carrying government employees near Peshawar. Death toll: nineteen.

A remote-control bomb explodes in an old, crowded marketplace in Peshawar. Death toll: thirty-seven.

Nigeria: Militants of the extremist group Boko Haram attack an agricultural college. Death toll: forty young male students, most of whom were sleeping when they were killed.

Iraq: Car bombings, suicide bombings, revenge killings, and assassinations reach levels not seen for at least five years. Death toll: nine hundred and seventy-nine. Wounded toll: twenty-one hundred and thirty-three, most as the result of Sunni-shiate sectarian violence.

Syria: Al Qaeda-affiliated rebels tighten their grip across northern Syria, intimidating local residents with public floggings and executions.

Yemen: Militants from Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula stage attacks on soldiers and police in southern Yemen. Death toll: at least thirty.

Afghanistan: Sushmita Banerjee, the Indian wife of an Afghan man, who converted from Hinduism to Islam and wrote a memoir about life under the Taliban which was later made into a Bollywood movie, is abducted from her home in Paktika Province, taken to a Taliban safe house, and shot twenty-five times. Two suspects are arrested and claim that they killed her because she had written about the Taliban, and because she had installed an Internet connection in her house.

Zanzibar: Attackers throw acid in the face of a Catholic priest as he leaves an Internet café, one month after two young British women were assaulted in the same way.

It was a very bad month. But the worst thing about September's violence is how much of it was easy to ignore. The Westgate drama in Nairobi seized the world's attention for a few days because it involved a glitzy landmark, a prolonged siege, and plenty of non-Kenyan victims. And yet scores, or hundreds, of people-shoppers, shopkeepers, worshippers, government workers, college students, housewives, children, most of them Muslims, none of them guilty of anything more than having been born in the wrong country-are being murdered every day, blown to pieces, burned alive, shot to death, beheaded, in the name of an extremely violent strain of Islam.

Vast vast vast majority of the one and a half billion Muslims on the planet are peaceful. These are assholes.

Was I being serious in my previous post or simply pointing out the ridiculousness of extremism (where ever one may find it).

do you mean literal 'explosion' terrorism or just stuff like bringing the US and global economic systems to the brink of destruction for the sake of ideological party purity and political gamesmanship?
