My prediction from Game 2 (adjusted): Boston will win game 3, lose game 4, win 5, lose 6, win at home in 7

2013-10-15 08:38:21 AM
Verlander will have 7 no hit innings before punching out Leyland for trying to bring in someone from the bullpen.  Finishes the game with 2 hits, no runs, and 15 K's.

I'd be surprised if the Tigers win another game in this series. You don't come back from a choke job like the one they committed in Game 2. Too emotionally draining. Too much energy theft.

Yeah, that did kind of feel like the outcome of the series as a whole was being determined there. If the Tigers win, they're up 2-0, going back to Detroit for 3 games, with Verlander on the mound for game 3. The Red Sox would have been really screwed.

I mean, I'm not quite sure that you can say the Tigers are done, but they certainly did blow a big chance there.

Not everybody wants to stay up until midnight or later for every single game.  I'm glad there's a few day games.

Considering how long Games 1 and 2 went, I have no problem with this

fark, you guys had a no-hitter into the 9th, what the hell is this whole "4 hour" game thing you have going on?

Can we split the difference and do 630 or 7? Especially when neither team is West Coast!

Thank goodness the series is moving to Detroit. Now when the bearded prima donnas argue the strike zone on every pitch they won't have a stadium full of babies crying them on.

6:30 or 7:00 would be great.  I would love it if World Series games would start at 7:00.  Think of all the young fans that MLB is trying to get that would actually be able to stay up to watch the end of the game.

It's possible, assuming JV is gone in the 7th or maybe the 8th inning and the Sox pitching can keep them in the game.

I don't know why the sports media keeps assuming Verlander is going to lead the Tigers to salvation, the Red Sox lit him up a month ago with zero problems.

2013-10-15 03:47:06 PM
Leyland today said the Red Sox should have won game 1, and the Tigers game 2. He's right, but it still hurts when they had a 2-0 series lead in their grasp. Hunter catches that ball if he doesn't lose it in the lights for a moment.

Well, for one thing, the Red Sox are having trouble even putting a bat on the ball so far.

He was probably seeing lights after that play as well.  I was really surprised to see him still in the game afterwards.

2013-10-15 03:50:00 PM
Sorry, it could go either way. If Verlander sliences the bats, momentum goes back to Detroit.

They got into the heads of the Sox for almost two games.

2013-10-15 03:56:28 PM
I'm not too worried about momentum swinging back to the Red Sox - they got super lucky the Detroit bullpen broke down the way it did.  I except another great starting pitching performance out of Verlander, coupled with a crowd ready to go nuts for them, will get things back on track for the Tigers.

No he doesn't. Hunter went over the wall and the bullpen catcher caught it- I think Torii Hunter is great, but he doesn't catch that ball unless he grows a foot and can run through walls.

I usually get out of work around 3:30-4:00, just enough time to get to the bar and a cocktail in front of me to enjoy the game on a day like this. Of course, today I don't get out until 6:00.

Half the game without booze? How the fark?

It's called "planning ahead" and it involves a flask small enough to hide in your desk or jacket pocket.

And it's socially acceptable also.

If I had known that I'd be stuck here, I would have for sure. I've got a refrigerator and TV.

Ugh, and to think our previous location had a liquor store right next door.

Balls.

I hope at some point before he retires Tim McCarver learns the pitcher's name is not Annabelle Sanchez.

Actually, "watching" the game via gamecast is still better than listing to Tim @#@$ McCarver.

Sunday night, he said that Ortiz's homerun was one of the biggest homeruns "In Boston Red Sox Postseason History". It's not even the biggest homerun  FROM Ortiz in the post season, you senile old man.

A power surge in Detroit?

Naw.

2013-10-15 04:45:32 PM
So the video board and most of the floodlights just shut off at Comerica. The sound system stayed on so it wasn't a power failure. The board is back up, but only the bottom row of floodlights in each bank is lit. I guess someone hit the wrong button.

Also, it's still light out!  Play while you can in case it doesn't get fixed!

Ha. Erin Andrews just called out Leyland for puffing a heater in the dugout
