Hang on a sec... you can casually feel up statues in Italian museums without getting guard dogs and laser beams sicced on you? This changes everything! Where did I leave my passport...

Show me on the statue where he touched you.

I liked Verona well enough, plenty of art and architecture to go around, but I thought the 'Juliet's house' museum with the highly-polished-breast statue was a bit lame.

I hear similar touching has given the wall street bull a nice shine on his nuts.  Although I think it is still roped off.  Is it?

Decades from now, a Donald Trump statue somewhere will have a shiny head from everyone touching its hair.

Of course, the statue will have been commissioned by Trump himself.

I was visiting New York City several years back when something shiny caught my attention out of the corner of my eye. I glanced over and the something shiny was coming from the corner of the back end of a giant bull. Turned out that I had stumbled across the famous Bull Statue for Wall Street

http://dealbreaker.com/2011/10/collateral-damage-from-occupation-of- wa ll-street-no-love-for-bulls-balls/

When I walked up to check out the world famous statue I discovered so many people have rubbed the bulls balls that they've been made shiny over the years. Make of that what you will.

Are there people who believe Juliette was a historical figure (pun) worthy of both a statue and a house ?

Do they also believe in Atlantis ?
Or visit a green-gabled house in PEI where a girl named Anne once lived ?
Or look for 221B Baker Street in London ?

What's wrong with looking for the Sherlock Holmes Museum located at that address??

/Or, maybe they were looking for Abbey National, which previously claimed that address...

At the time Conan-Doyle wrote the Sherlock Holmes stories, 221B Baker Street was a fictional address occupied by a pair of fictional characters.  Today the Sherlock Holmes museum occupies 237-241 Baker Street. That said, it is a Victorian house that is similar to the ordinary sort of high-class rooming house that existed in Conan-Doyle's times. Like many others in London, it has survived. Thanks to its fortuitous location, someone can make a living from fans who come to visit where someone who never existed never lived.   I find that amusing.

There actually is a Green Gables House on PEI, and a 221B Baker Street in London. They're museums dedicated to the works of their respective authors, but they're in the proper places and attempt to stay faithful to the works.

Atlantis, well, that's another issue.

Yes, I've seen seen the busloads of mostly Japanese tourists in PEI. The Green Gables house, or more accurately the Green Gables Heritage Center, isn't so much a museum dedicated to the works to LM Montgomery as an idealized version of what Anne's house might have been like had Anne been an actual person, but you're right, the place does exist and in its original guise served as inspiration for the Anne of Green Gables novels.

As for 221B Baker Street, that address does not exist. In Conan Doyle's time, the civic numbers on Baker Street ended at 100. Later, the street was extended and new civic numbers added, but there is still no 221B.  There is a fake 221B civic number on a door to the museum located between 237 and 241 Baker Street. The address 221B Baker Street is as fictional as Atlantis.

Like I said before, 221 originally belonged to Abbey National until they closed down... For a while there was a fight between them and the Holmes museum over the rights to that address... But, it's ridiculous to say the address doesn't exist... It didn't at the time Doyle wrote about it, sure... But, it most certainly does exist now... Send mail to that address, and see if it gets returned or delivered somewhere... Yes, you're right that the museum that currently claims the address isn't where 221 should be, but so what? House numbering rules are pretty arbitrary anyway... If the post office recognizes them as being at 221b Baker Street, they are at 221b Baker street, for all intents and purposes...

And Canada Post accepts all letters addressed to "Santa" at postal code "H0H 0H0". By your standards that makes it a real address.

Well, yeah, it kind of does... That's how addresses work!

Just because Santa is fictional doesn't mean the North Pole is as well!
