AverageAmericanGuy: A wrecked Ferrari? Where do I sign up?
antidisestablishmentarianism: Is this that shirtless douche's car?*clicks link*Yep, it looks like it was that guy.
Tchernobog: As a car guy....meh.Ferrari is for saying you have a Ferrari. For $100k, anyone interested in using a car like that for its intended purpose could build something much better.
atomic-age: It was ostensibly leaking carbon monoxide into the passenger compartment, thus causing its own demise. This after requiring a new engine. Methinks the car's engine code would say, PRAY FOR MOJO at this point.
Precision Boobery: F50, huh? Sounds like a pussy wagon to me. What's the towing capacity?
RogermcAllen: So I'm pretty car stupid. If I can read the between the lines, then when I buy this car I am basically just buying a VIN#. When I slap the VIN onto the Ferrari kit car that I make using a few odd parts from the original (like a rear tail light, and maybe one of the floor mats) the $100,000 kit car is instantly transformed into a $10MM Ferrari F50.
buzzcut73: Copart is who sold my wife's totaled 2003 Focus 4 door hatchback, after some lady turned left into oncoming traffic, got broadsided at 45 mph, and pushed into the Focus (which was sitting at a red light). That story wasn't interesting enough to get over $100k. I think the auction ended at about $300/Broken drive axle, crunched front end, crunched up back end//somehow, the other car bounced off the front, around the doors and into the rear///This story has no point, other than Copart is kind of a cool website to browse if you can fix cars
loonatic112358: As I said in the jalop comments, someone contact the guys that did the Eddie Griffin Enzo repair.
antidisestablishmentarianism: Hey, you have the same handle here as you do on Jalopnik.
Barry Lyndon's Annuity Cheque: So is this more or less expensive than the car that Cameron trashed in Ferris Bueller's Day Off?
Adolf Oliver Nipples: Barry Lyndon's Annuity Cheque: So is this more or less expensive than the car that Cameron trashed in Ferris Bueller's Day Off?Much less. While the car in the movie was a replicar, a real one goes for over $10 million now. The F50 goes for 1/20th of that, maybe a little more, though it will only get more expensive as time goes on.
Glitchwerks: Gas Monkey did it with an F40.
Adolf Oliver Nipples: atomic-age: It was ostensibly leaking carbon monoxide into the passenger compartment, thus causing its own demise. This after requiring a new engine. Methinks the car's engine code would say, PRAY FOR MOJO at this point.Right. Carbon monoxide. That's it.Which is more likely, a carbon monoxide leak at speed from a rear-engined, open-top car incapacitating the driver, or the same guy who drove like a jerk on video wiping out while being a cool guy?I know which one I'm going with.
The_Original_Roxtar: the sad thing? a $12000 suzuki with $3000 worth of modifications will destroy that car.
loonatic112358: The_Original_Roxtar: the sad thing? a $12000 suzuki with $3000 worth of modifications will destroy that car.The suzukis that are raced up pikes peak are custom fabricated
TheGreatGazoo: For $100,000, I'd rather have an M5 and send it off to Dinan to do their thing. And put a 525 badge on it to make it a sleeper...
Glitchwerks: Gas Monkey did it with ruined an F40.
bemused outsider: That will only have value to whomever wants it for parts, or souveniers. No potential customer will pay Ferrari money for it unless it's all Ferrari, and re-built by Ferrari, which will exceed any market value it could have. Ferrari may have an interst in it, to collect parts from it.And every F-50 is a known quantity, so good luck selling it to an un-suspecting buyer.
LemSkroob: TheGreatGazoo: For $100,000, I'd rather have an M5 and send it off to Dinan to do their thing. And put a 525 badge on it to make it a sleeper...Funny. And people without money take a Chrysler 300 and put Bently stickers on it.Ive also seen a 3-series with an M badge on it. so sad.
The_Original_Roxtar: i'm talking about 2-wheeled suzukis... the kind anyone can walk into a dealership and buy.
