I've never seen it either. So what?

2013-10-14 05:28:17 PM
Also I think this is hilarious. These days you don't even have to watch a show to know everything about it.
Just read the fanbois stuff gushing about it on the net.

2013-10-14 05:30:40 PM
I will not never read his reviews.

There is apparently a hug gulf between comedian and comedy writer.  People have been doing this kind of gag since twitter starter; so you'd think he could have at least stolen a funny joke to throw in as a courtesy.

"The Walking Dead" sucks ass.

It's a perfect example of the modern "It's popular on the Internet!"-type shows. Make a show with a good premise and high production values, and then make sure you only produce 2 episodes per season that have ANY plot development/action/interesting events.

The fanboys will cream themselves and claim it's the greatest show ever, even though only 4 minutes of good stuff happen every 12 hours.

Sure it does. That's why the comic has been running for 10 years now.

I don't watch Walking Dead and I don't do twitter....guess I won't know anything about either of them any time soon.

You do realize we're talking about the TV show in here, not the comic, right?

And that the two are only loosely related?

Good.

That wasn't even remotely funny.  It was supposed to be funny right?

Sure do. Read every issue, watched every episode. Doesn't change my point.

That was painfully unfunny. I knew I should have stopped at the contrarian 'During the last season of  Breaking Bad (another show I have never & will never watch)'  'I'm hipster awesome and don't even have a TV' bit.

Your point that the comic is good?  Yeah, nobody has said otherwise.

The show is crap.

Crappity crap crap, smothered in crap, on crap toast with a side of crap pickles.  Bad acting, bad writing, bad pacing.

Forced by the Wife to watch every episode, even though she thinks it's crap!  She's a big fan of the books though, so she keeps holding out hope that eventually the show will come into its own and at least not be crap.

She's got a weird sort of loyalty to IPs.  If she were a Star Wars fan, she'd actually be optimistic for the new Disney films, and watch every one no matter how bad each individual one was.  I think it's because there aren't many shows out there that even slightly interest her, so when one comes along purporting to be a property she already loves, she hangs on for all she's worth no matter how bad it is.  She doesn't pretend it's even slightly watchable, but she forces herself (and me) to give every episode a shot, hoping that someday it might be the show she so badly wants it to be.

She wasn't into comics as a youth, so she isn't familiar with how this story goes...

Yeah, the show is, and always has been crap.  Just really bad.  I'm talking Phantom Menace bad.  Almost every episode.  Actually, Phantom Menace, to the LOST power.  Such horrible acting, horrible pacing, terrible writing...ugh.

I stopped reading comic books when I was 14 and I've never twittered because that is for 14 year girls.

There should be a show called "The Walking Sluts", which consists about 80% of people arguing with each other, and 20% graphic nudity and sex.

That was almost exactly as funny as I expected it to be.

That is, not. Remotely. It was pretty much spot on with the 'der, jok no undstarnd sho' down to the bare wire. If it was any more cliche he would have thrown a beer joke in there. Wait, he did. How about a Lemmy joke?

I dont claim to be cool.

The show is ridiculous and has many bad points but I enjoy it greatly.

I don't claim to be cool.

But that dude's blog sucks and, wow, the show is way more funny than his review of it.

Just to be clear, I know I'm not cool.

For a guy so vigorously offended by both "Bad acting, bad writing, bad pacing"  AND "horrible acting, horrible pacing, terrible writing" it's worth noting that it took you fewer than 20 sentences to demonstrate that you're a terrible writer who badly slows down his pacing by repeating himself, horribly.

Walking Dead was, and maybe still is, a pretty good show. However, even at its best, it never approached Breaking Bad.  I'm not sure about this new season.  Hopefully it will pick up.

It's like having a shambling mob of mindless automatons relentless chasing you down, driving all of the hope and joy from your life until, exhausted and broken, you collapse in a heap and submit to being devoured.  I wish there was a metaphor I could use here...

The first season was fantastic in large part because of Frank Darabont.  The zombies weren't just mindless killing machines, they were people who had experienced horrific tragedies.  They way Darabont humanized made you question where they were truly mindless or if some remnant of their original selves still existed somewhere in their minds.  Almost all of that was tossed away after his firing.

I agree 100%. I should absolutely love the show. I love zombies. Hell my damn hallway is a George Romero shrine w/ posters of his first three movies. The Walking Dead is so farking boring! Each week it's the same thing. Awesome head shot, awesome zombie, gore, BORING RELATIONSHIP TALK AND FEELINGS, more talking, more talking, ZOMBIE! cliffhanger.......wash, rinse, repeat. The only reason I watch this show is because nothing else is on. I wish Rick would catch a bullet to the face ASAP.

You do know that Darabont was the main person responsible for the season 2 farm storyline (the first half of the season)? I like Darabont, but he's not this infallible writer that everyone seems to think he is.

The arguing over what the list best metal singer of the 80's or whatever is annoying as hell.  And geeze Eddie, UFO was just ok!

/We all know the best metal singer of the 80's was Dio!

Yeah, Eddie sure loves his UFO...but Don and Jim rag him about it a lot.  I see those Top 5 lists as opportunities for Don and Jim to really stick it to Eddie...like where Eddie didn't choose Black Sabbath's 1st album for one topic (don't recall, was it best debut album?)...and then Don and Jim called him on it *hard* when Bill Ward was sitting as a guest.  Plus Rush....they've ragged Eddie mercilessly for including Rush in nearly every list.

However, one thing is for sure....it's Eddie's ranting about the R&R Hall of Fame that has been directly responsible for Alice Cooper and Rush being inducted.  Geez Louise...Grandmaster Flash and Donna Summer IN, but no Deep Purple, Kiss, or a host of others...!

One great thing though....Don and Jim *love* Thin Lizzy and they give the group a lotta props, which are extremely well deserved.  And I'll give those two credit for holding back when Axl Rose was a guest...when you *know* they wanted to ask why he had to be such a colossal douchebag and break up the band.

I just assumed the sideburns were part of his schtick. Jim and Eddie really used to get on him a lot about them. I'm looking forward to the show possibly returning to NYC.

They seem to ignore the fact that metal continued and evolved (and I would argue got better) after the 1980s-early '90s (although an occasional post-90s band might appear on one of their t-shirts). This may be more the fault of VH-1 rather than the hosts from what I've heard though.

I have never seen it and do not have any plans to do so. I have found that shows a large number of people like tend to be shows I do not enjoy. I have not seen Breaking Bad also and I could stream both shows for free. I find myself more into the shows offered by HBO, Showtime and Netflix.

I believe Don did one of the TMS Rants on this topic.  He said they get ragged a lot for not showing any love for more current bands and the like.

From http://hardrockdaddy.wordpress.com/category/that-metal-show/

THE RANT: Don Jamieson rants about longtime viewers who don't get the concept of what TMS is all about. Fans complain that TMS gives no love to new bands. Jamieson pointed out that TMS is on VH1 Classic. "You don't turn on ESPN Classic expecting to see new games, do you?"

Dio was THE MAN.  And more than just a phenomenal singer, he was truly a GREAT man.  Countless stories about how he was simply one of the coolest people *ever*...like some kid sitting on the curb after a Dio concert with no way home, and Dio gives him a ride home on the tour bus...tons of stories like this one.
