11 rats is even luckier then 7 rabbit's foots[feet?] depending on your culture.

FTA, they found the 12th the next day. But that's not the scary part:

ELEVEN live rats were found on a plane arriving for repair on September 30 at southeast China's Xiamen Airport, which inspection and quarantine authorities said was the most rats they had ever detected on an inbound plane.

Apparently they find fewer than 11 rats on a regular basis and it's no big deal.

Don't ask me why. That's just the way the airlines work in China.

But seriously. I read the article and the truth is, they found a Momma Rat and ten darling baby rat pups. Then they found another rat, who is presumably Daddy Rat. So it wasn't as bad as it sounds. It was just getting there.

Rats can chew through wires and ducts and things, which can be quite serious on an airplane, less so on a sailing ship. So I am glad they got them.

It's 1 momma rat and 10 teeny baby rats, not 11 full size rats.

They probably would have heard the noise from 11 rats crammed under a seat.

To be fair, their snore is ultrasonic and they spit far less than your typical Chinese male...

I didn't know that any of our congresspersons were that flexible; much less 11 of them.

Rats are often in business class seats. If you keep the drinks coming, it's no real surprise they'd be under them too.

On my last trip a passenger a couple rows in front of me found a live scorpion.  Later, a runaway beverage cart sailed down the aisle.

Then on my return trip we found a bankrupt football star flying coach.

Interesting times in the air.

Fun fact: in China you can buy fake milk, fake eggs, fake anything as long as it's cheaper to produce than the real thing. No, customers do not knowingly buy fake eggs or milk, it just turns up in the stores. Rat would be easy enough to process into any manner of "mainstream" meats or products.

I can just see the maintenance report...

They found another rat in the cabin the next day after the closure. The quarantine measures were lifted after a search found no more evidence of rodents.

Problem: Mouse RAT in cockpit.
Solution: Cat installed.

I've been on mainland trains/buses. I'd wager the rats make less mess than the people. Sure the rat has to piss or take a dump, but at least it'll hide it. And do rats spit?

Wasn't it in China where there was a Epic Traffic Jam that looked like one of those slide puzzles? Or the freeway traffic measured in weeks? But yeah, that SK traffic is a mess. To be fair though, did you see how far back that traffic line went? I have NO problem believing we would have done just as bad, if not worse.
