So that spider who makes a web across my front door at face level every morning isn't following his natural instincts, he's just being a douchebag?

Well fark him.

I, for the most part, don't kill spiders. Spiders eat those insects and other bugs that annoy me. So I leave them alone.

Unless, of course, they descend from above and crawl on me. In that case, I do the manly thing and run around in circles, arms flailing, screaming "Get it off! Get IT OFF! GETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFF!"

I don't kill them either, unless they happen to be in the bathtub after I'm undressed and getting into the shower, in which case, down the drain they go.

I can understand them being upset of you kill them.  If you're killed, you've lost a very important part of your life.

I found a spider this weekend that had hung itself.  I thought it was an accident, but now I'm not so sure..

2013-10-14 02:17:35 PM
How many spiders did they psychoanalyze? Did none of them enjoy being killed? Did some of them not care? Was this just a non-scientific poll on the web?

So the crack spider isn't a dick because of the crack, it's because he's just a dick.

It hurts their feelings when you kill them, but not for very long.

I see you have the same defense mechanism I do.

CSB time!

I've got a big, hairy spider living on one of my pillar lamps. Most of the time; he just hangs out(get it?) wayyyy below the on switch. The other day; he was on the cone of shame part and jumped onto my hand. My immediate response was to scream, like a little girl, and wave my hand about. He jumped off of my hand and I haven't seen him above the base of the lamp in 2 months.

/ no spiders were harmed in this production

I'm fine with spiders as long as they stay on the walls or ceiling.  If they touch the floor, I worry that they'll be near my feet and I wont see them crawl towards me, and if they come onto the furniture, that's just breaking the deal.  both violations of the peace accord result in extreme sanctions.

I watched a spider putting the sticky circles on its web just this morning. It was one of those little guys who looks kinda like a bit of bird poop. I had to remember not to walk through it, though because he'd strung the web right across the most convenient path out of my back yard.

This is his species, I think:

I try to avoid killing any spider, but sometimes one rappels down from the ceiling toward my face and I panic and smash it. Sorry, little bros.

/and sometimes a wolf spider is too close to my shoes and I just can't handle the thought that it might crawl inside one of them

Looks like an orb spider.

That being said, there are some wonderful incesticides out there you can put in/around your home that lay down a 9 month barrier. Any insect crossing that barrier will die in about 5 minutes.

I don't mind the spiders so much as the house centipedes.  Spiders just go about being spiders when you're around, they don't care.  The house centipedes see you and they dart around trying to hide, like cockroaches.  Problem is, they're really bad at it.  They think that if they can't see you, you can't see them either.

I was getting ready for work and set my lunch bag down on the kitchen counter for just a few seconds while I grabbed something else.  Go to pick up the bag and notice around 50 legs poking out from underneath.  (pick up bag... smack... off to work...)

Had a rosehair tarantula that definitely recognized smells of people. She would chill out on my shoulder all day and most people thought she was an elaborate brooch. If anyone else tried to pick her up, they would get a handful of spiky spider hair. I miss her.
