Dissolve the Republican Party. This can happen faster than anyone imagines.

2013-10-14 10:20:24 AM
Um, subby? It is the constitutional responsibility of the president to protect America against *all* enemies, foreign AND domestic. Congressional Republicans are merely testing Obama's ability to defend America against a domestic threat. If he fails to do so, he's failed as a president. Therefore, impeachment is perfectly within reason. Why is this difficult?

A decade ago your republican party was an amusing group of old fart twatwaffles. Now they're economic terrorists.

Sort your shiat out, US. You're about to make a mess for the entire world to have to live through.

2013-10-14 10:27:57 AM
Obama and the Democrats are just as much to blame for the shut down and the debt ceiling crisis because they should have known that Republicans were unwilling to do what is right for the country and therefore should have given in to their demands.

Sheesh. That's like saying that you're going to drive a monster truck into your neighbor's yard- through the fence he has up around it- and run down his children and pets, and then prosecute him for child endangerment for not adequately protecting his children from harm. Can we send Gohmert Pyle back to Mayberry yet?

Louie Gohmert may be the dumbest person ever elected to Congress.  When they trot him out, with Bachmann and King, it's the conservative Beavis and Butthead and Butthead.

No, those guys were at least amusing.  Gohmert just makes rational people angry and sad.

But that will weigh up to 400 blue whales!

I love that people think it has to be the weight in a metal when it can just be a metal punch out from an electrical box that says $1 trillion.

You mean to tell me that dollar bills aren't made out of $1 worth of gold? That explains why I've had such a hard time melting them down into Freedom Crosses.

There has to be someone who has made a "support people with mental disabilities: Vote Republican" bumper sticker, right?

/probably one with Democrats too, for that matter.

So ... it's an impeachable offense for Obama to refuse to sign into law a bill which has not been passed by Congress?

Does Gohmert think it would be less of a high crime or misdemeanor for the President to simply make up new laws without going through Congress?

Really? Good!

Let the GOP, led by the Tea People, file articles of impeachment - and let the discussion air on TV - much as the "debate" over the cr/ceiling have. Let the derp flow

Let the American people come to understand that, rather than actually balance the budget and focus on jobs THIS is their idea of "running the government" - courting the most irresponsible hate-filled infromed portion of the populace.

Then let the campaign ad writers merely tally up the cost: all the failed votes to repeal the ACA, all the failed "negotiations" and the shut down, all the lost days of pay, any market problems

Let it be one number - with a tag line:  "Who Should Be Removed From Office?"

2013-10-14 11:47:18 AM
Called it last week. They're hoping to impeach him for *something* as a result of this, either for violating the 14th if he doesn't go over their heads ad raise the debt ceiling on his own or for breaking the law on the debt ceiling if he does.

Of course, it looks like they are a little confused about what impeachment means and where the trial would take place.

What this proves is that Boehner will have to floor the Senate bill (no matter what it is) with Democratic votes to pass and he'll lose his job.

Republicans seem to be under the idea that we could/should simply stop paying out SS checks instead of defaulting on our debt payments. Technically they might be right that it could be done (I'm not going to bother to check), but damn if that wouldn't cause every Congressional member and their families to be dragged onto the street and slowly tortured to death.

I believe Gohmert is correct. The 14th amendment binds the government / president to honor the debts of the US.

No, if my guanopsychotic-to-english translator is working properly, it's an impeachable offense for Obama to want to sign into law a bill that Congress refuses to pass.

Which is just as farking stupid, if not more so.

So, we're hoping for default?

2013-10-14 11:50:44 AM
Sadly, in today's America this is simply a truism. With great power comes great responsibility. The President has been imbued with both and yet, while more than willing to exercise that power for his own interests, fails to live up to his responsibilities to defend this country. The government itself has become a threat to the very citizens it's responsible for. The most responsible use of the President's power at this point would be for him to step down and dissolve his administration, allowing for a representative of the people to take his place. To serve the very constitution he pledged to uphold, and the citizens of this country, I hope that that's the choice he makes.

The branding  of "conservative" in the late 70s was quite deliberate to obfuscate the GOP's radical neoliberal agenda.

There are several laws/Constitutional bits which will come directly into conflict here. One of them will be ignored by definition, and Obama will be impeach for it. Because Republicans don't learn from history
