Dog Welder: You know, there are plenty of legitimate things the Republicans can actually sit down and come up with to criticize Obama about.  But then they go ahead and just fabricate things.

If you have to lie to better your position, YOU HAVE NO POSITION.

When you criticize TONE, you also have no position.

casual disregard: FTFA: "Our President, who travels across the globe apologizing for the United States of America"

Pardon my ignorance, but what the fark does that even mean? I've never heard or seen such a thing from this President.

I think the concept was invented by none other than Turd Blossom himself in a WSJ article. As such, it's exactly as facile and half-truthy as you'd expect.

It is not lying if it feels accurate in your heart and you truly believe it.

When you CRITICIZE ARBITRARY CAPITALIZATION for emphasis, you're not even TRYING to take a POSITION.

Whoever that is, he/she is technically correct.  And that should frighten us all.

Random quotes, make up your own mind.

Admitting possible mistakes is not apologizing.

Hey, asshole: He's not criticizing tone.  Lying isn't a "tone" - it's a behavior.  One that, if I'm guessing right, your holy book specifically condemns.

Transcript of Obama speech in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia 2/1/2009:

I offer a complete and utter retraction. The imputation was totally without basis in fact, and was in no way fair comment, and was motivated purely by malice, and I deeply regret any distress that my comments may have caused you or your family, and I hereby undertake not to repeat any such slander at any time in the future.

The sad/scary thing about Mr. Rove: his meltdown when Fox called Ohio for Obama. From that we can conclude he actually believed the "skewed polls" BS the reality bubble was pushing at the time.

Cynical manipulators can at least act in their own interest. True Believers can't be swayed from the One True Path.

The best part of that was when that Fox newswoman asked him if his method was just math to make Republicans feel better about themselves and he had this flabbergasted, speechless look on his face. It's not common to be called out on your bullshiat on your own turf.

This really doesn't count because no one says to this guy's face "You're wrong and here's the proof".

The only people who recognize that he's been debunked are the bloggers who actually READ Fox's website and the small number of people who read about that blogger's findings (Farkers, for example).

I found the citation, guys. It's a mangled quote from a movie named A Fish Called Wanda:

"Archie: I do, I offer a complete and utter retraction. The imputation was totally without basis in fact, and was in no way fair comment, and was motivated purely by malice, and I deeply regret any distress that my comments may have caused you, or your family, and I hereby undertake not to repeat any such slander at any time in the future."

FTFM. Not sure why I thought that was mangled. There's a couple commas missing, and there's no "Archie" in front, but other than that...

I'm pretty sure quoting A Fish Called Wanda in this case, especially in a supposed speech in Riyadh, constitutes shenanigans. I object on the basis of trolling and request that the Fark stenographer strike the original comment and all subsequent replies from the record.

Oh wow, THIS.  The more rabid righters like to say that people on the "left" worship Obama, but the best critiques actually come from those that know that Obama is just barely left of center (if that).

I know people who are STILL hung up on who Obama's pastor is/was.. Jeremiah Wright.. some other guy you've never heard of, this Islamic guy..

Know what I want? A president to just say : enough of this religious silliness. I'm busy with problems here in the real world.

I get the impression that a few presidents (Clinton, Obama, even Reagan) probably had this attitude, but didn't dare speak it aloud.

Now, now! There is no reason to go off halfcocked calling shenanigans, when it's clearly just a case of monkeyshines.
