Good, now the whining East Coast Media can lay off blaming Seattle's noise the next time their shiat team comes up here and gets stomped and sent home.

Congrats KC. I mean: CONGRATS KC!!!!!

There's already talk we might be planning a do-over for the playoffs...

I think that part of this is pure marketing on Guinness's part, but it's a pretty cool title to have notheless.

Is that why Pryor couldn't get the snap off in time?

The Orioles hit 121 last year, which is pretty good for a baseball park. How long it's been since the team had anything to scream about has a lot to do with it. If the Browns have a home game to make the playoffs, KC's record is toast.

Why the hate? It's a good time to be a Kansas City sports fan? The Chiefs are winning. SportingKC are headed to the playoffs. Missouri is leading the SEC East. The Royals posted a winning season. It's a good time for KC sports.

The seating capacity of 76,416 at Arrowhead Stadium, the fifth-largest in the NFL, also meant that there was nearly 10,000 more Chiefs fans than Seahawks fans trying for the record.

Kinda like to see the science behind this.  How do you accurately/fairly measure something like that?  Sound intensity and pressure are a function of distance, so meter placement would be everything, you'd have to factor in different stadium shapes, reverberation/reflection, etc.

/once hit 123 dBa on a clarinet at the bell
//student director's jaw dropped when he read the meter
///college pep band broke decibel meters for sport

I'm gonna let you finish, but Besiktas has the loudest stadium of all time. OF ALL TIME!

holy shiat.

That right there is some grade A, weapons grade butthurt. It's like a 20 second joke ballooned out into 4 or 5 uncomfortable, awkward minutes.

Why would a Pats fan like Burr be butthurt about anything Seachicken related? He's just mocking a fanbase that's pretty much prime for it.

/no reason to dislike Seattle myself, just thought it was funny. Seattle fans always did seem a bit sensitive.

Maybe I'm just getting old - and it's been this way for the past 20 years or whatever I'm sure - but that play clock at Arrowhead seemed comically small. Especially in a day game, I'm not sure how anyone could see it/read it reliably.

I have no idea, you have to ask him why he felt the need to whine for 4+ minutes about it.

Oh, is that what that was? Which part of it was the joke part? Where he hurled obnoxious insults at Seattle or its team? So is that what he does now? Is he this generation's Andrew Dice Clay? Or is he just an insecure Pats fan annoyed that Seattle's getting a lot of attention? Cuz that's really what it sounded like -- butthurt galore.

Yeah, see how easy it is to make ignorant observations of things and then claim it's humour....cuz that's what I just did. And you got all sensitive and offended by it.

Which equates to something like a .5 decibel increase.  "Volume" of noise doesn't increase its decibel level.  In a case like this it is solely due to people screaming very loudly and architecture, architecture, architecture.  Seattle will win this in the end based on the architecture of their stadium alone.

TheJoe03: Why would a Pats fan like Burr be butthurt

Have you ever heard Boston area fans of anything?  About 10% of that fanbase - Sox, Pats, Celtics, Bruins, hell, even a handful of Revolution faithful - has a complete inability to experience joy or a sense of accomplishment.  They aren't happy unless they have a reason to biatch.  After the Panthers-Pats Super Bowl where John F*cking Kasay shanked us to certain doom, I heard a Pats fan complaining that "the team's gonna have to let people go, and we may not rebuild right," etc.

Now, vast majority of them?  Great fans, and they really appreciate what Robert Kraft has done.  And every fanbase has a swath of folks that burdened us with not running down their mother's leg instead of fertilization (I'm thinking of those Panther "fans" that harassed the disabled veteran in a Charlotte-area bar last year).  But for the amount of success that area has had in all five pro sports in the last 15 years, that sliver of fans is incredibly butthurt.

In a world where the NFL, a full contact sports league, can be sued over players getting concussions, they really ought to mandate that stadiums keep their peak volume down under 120 dB.

It's funny. He even says the Seahawks are going to the Super Bowl this year. He's said multiple time he thinks Seattle is an amazing city(in other podcast) but the Seahawks fans are still giving him shiat. It kinda proves how insecure they are. Quit acting like a LAAAAAADY, and enjoy your team that's playing great

Please don't equate all Hawks fans with what you run into getting into these online pissing contests.

// Hawks fan. I think it's hilarious someone got louder than we, with all the whining we take from visitors on how unplayable it is here because it's so loud, how the league should make new rules to outlaw noise, looking at you SF and NY.

We aren't the loudest, how bad can it be here.

IS there a record for fan noise when they're NOT being encouraged by a PA announcer and a jumbotron graphic to yell loudly to get a record?

I mean, it's great that they got the record for "loudest group of people shouting", but I kind of think it should be measured during a non orchestrated game averaged over the entire time. Or something.

It happened with a couple minutes left in the game on a Pick-6. It was not orchestrated.

The dude from Guinness who was recording it said that the stadium hit their peak with about 30 seconds left in the game and when the stadium was about 3/4 full. He found it surprising, but thought it had something to do with a replay they were showing.
