Tarheel_Madness:   The series?  Even if Boston wins, they've lost home-field advantage.  Detroit gets to play the next three in the roach-infested confines of Comerica.

I love Comerica. I've never been in the locker rooms there, but I find the rest of it to be pretty clean, as far sports venues go.

Sarcasm my dear.  It was a poor attempt at humor.

Tarheel_Madness: Kevin72: Dusty Baker's ghost is still haunting MLB and God damn that so much. It costed the Giants the world series when Baker took the winning pitcher out of game 6 in the 7th inning in 2002. They should immediately fire whoever took out Sherzer. Fire that a-hole now. He deprived Sherzer of his record and just lost the game and maybe the series. Fire the ass that took out Sherzer. I am disgusted.

Actually just the next 2, then back to Boston for game 5.

What was obscure? It just came off as typical "OMGDETROITISASLUMYERGONNAGETSHOT" boilerplate.

I wonder how many people were at the Pats and Sox game today, and left both early....

No. It's 2-3-2, same as the World Series.

Ooh, the sox fans are employing the name calling taunt that the pirates fans were so fond of.
I think mlb should be able to electrify the seats as needed.

Benoit puts two guys on then I suggest throwing Porcello out there. Defense is set for ground balls and he could go all night if need be.

As a man who lives in North Saint Louis, I resent that. "OMGDETROITISASLUMYERGONNAGETSHOT"  is actually my town's unofficial title.

Baseball never uses that format. Always 2-3-2 that I can remember. Hockey and Basketball Playoffs use 2-2-1-1-1 format.

About that defense

2013-10-13 11:40:11 PM
Well, Detroit's intent to throw this one way, there's no stopping them now.

2013-10-13 11:40:20 PM
Hmm...yeah, I should know that. How quickly I forget the rules after not watching even 9 total innings of baseball in the last two years.

Well you certainly picked a good game to watch all 9 innings.

Fielders got nobody to blame but himself unless someone shanked him...

2013-10-13 11:43:27 PM
OK, they are now *literally* throwing this game away.

2013-10-13 11:43:29 PM
Yikes.

This bullpen is the Anti-Scherzer.

2013-10-13 11:43:48 PM
Ouch tigers....

2013-10-13 11:43:55 PM
This game fell apart for the Tigers SO quickly..

2013-10-13 11:43:59 PM
A single, followed by an error and a wild pitch. Nice.

2013-10-13 11:44:01 PM
Wild pitch to lose it?

2013-10-13 11:44:01 PM
Come on Salty

2013-10-13 11:44:23 PM
If they come out of this inning alive I'll be shocked.  It's like they're TRYING to lose.

2013-10-13 11:44:29 PM
Wow.

2013-10-13 11:44:43 PM
God DAMN

2013-10-13 11:44:51 PM
Eh, well... it's just one game.

Let's not a have a stroke, kay?

I will have a stroke about this. The Giants were sailing to win the 2002 series and the pitcher in his own words said he could have easily held out but Dusty Baker the most hated man in 2002 San Francisco took him out and the "relievers" lost imminently winnable game 6. There was no reason to take out Sherzer when he was doing so well and worse deprive him of tying the ALDS record which was imminently available. Now it's a humiliating loss. But I'm more bitter at Sherzer being denied his chance at history because "7 innings only precious snowflake". Fire the bum manager TONIGHT.

The sports media in Detroit are gonna be pissed.

Oh well.  See you guys tomorrow for Cards-Dodgers or Tuesday if you're only following the AL games.

2013-10-13 11:46:18 PM
Did Salty ever touch first base?

2013-10-13 11:46:19 PM
I can't believe what I just saw...

Feel bad for you Tigers fans.  I'm a Phillies fan. I've had my share of heartaches over the years.
