I am actually growing a little tired of these stories about some guy at a rally saying something stupid.  Seriously, This is news?

Some guy gets up at a rally, and says a bunch of stupid crap and CNN runs with it like it is a big deal....

Meanwhile
Republicans created a healthcare plan
http://www.forbes.com/sites/theapothecary/2012/02/07/the-tortuous-co ns ervative-history-of-the-individual-mandate/

They pushed for this plan over the course of 2 decades, and they even supported this plan as late as 2008

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Healthy_Americans_Act

 Then
When The democrats agreed to adopt this plan, the GOP suddenly (and at that point only) decided the plan was unconstitutional and posed a grave threat to the nation.

They sued in the supreme court but lost
http://www.scribd.com/doc/98544934/Supreme-Court-upholds-Affordable- Care-Act

They ran presidential candidate who opposed the Affordable Care Act even though he had passed a nearly identical law in the State of Massachusetts
http://www.forbes.com/sites/theapothecary/2011/10/20/how-a-conservat iv e-think-tank-invented-the-individual-mandate/

Obama was re-elected with the Affordable Care Act being a center piece of the election
http://www.politico.com/2012-election/map/

Deciding that the Affordable Care Act was a serious threat to the nation, the GOP engineered a strategy of threatening a Government Shutdown to protest the Affordable Care Act.

To pull this off
The Republicans strategized how to engineer the shutdown, and how to handle the spin
http://www.bostonglobe.com/news/nation/2013/10/05/federal-budget-cri si s-months-planning/bhA7OHhAIBvNNincmzdtjJ/story.html

80 members of congress signed a letter to force the shutdown.
http://www.freedomworks.org/blog/jwithrow/does-your-senator-stand-wi th -mike-lee-against-obam

They said a shutdown would not be a bad thing
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2013/07/30/ted- cr uz-government-shutdown-wouldnt-be-so-bad/

They celebrated when it happened
http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/republicans-shut-down-the- go vernment-but-they-cant-stop-obamacare-20131001

The House Republicans changed a long standing House Rule at the last minute to ensure the shutdown would stay in effect:
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/dc/the-house-gop-s-little-rule-change-t ha t-guaranteed-a-shutdown

When challenged about this, the republicans would not address the issue.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Jd-iaYLO1A

All the while
They accused the Democrats and Obama of not negotiating, even though the democrats tried repeatedly to negotiate
http://www.nationaljournal.com/congress/19-times-democrats-tried-to- ne gotiate-with-republicans-20131007?mrefid=mostread

Which should not have been necessary since Harry Reid and John Boehner had a deal, that Boehner backed out of.

http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/326425-reid-boehner-backed-out-of -d eal

And despite all of this,
The Radical wing of the GOP will still blame Obama for the Shutdown

http://www.latimes.com/opinion/topoftheticket/la-na-tt-republicans-b la me-obama-20131006,0,2739790.story

Meanwhile

In 2001, The GOP President and GOP Congress
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/72/Combined--Control _o f_the_U.S._House_of_Representatives_-_Control_of_the_U.S._Senate.png

inherited a projected budget surplus and a projected elimination of the entire debt within 10 years.
http://clinton4.nara.gov/WH/new/html/Fri_Dec_29_151111_2000.html

The GOP then passed a tax cut,
http://www.cbo.gov/publication/41463

waged an expensive war
http://articles.washingtonpost.com/2013-03-28/world/38097452_1_iraq- price-tag-first-gulf-war-veterans

and repeatedly voted to raise the debt ceiling with no demands on spending cuts.

2007 vote: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/votes/110-2007/s354

Then
When a Democrat was in the Whitehouse, the GOP decided it was worth risking a default to place demands on spending cuts.
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/boehner-u-s-will-default-if-ob am a-doesn-t-cave-on-the-debt-limit

And to top it all off,
I have gotten almost all of this information from a joke of a website called "FARK" who's mascot is a god damned squirrel trying to shove his nut sack in everybody's face.

Meanwhile CNN runs a story about some crazy guy at a protest saying something crazy.

Please note, my tantrum pic is of a crying toddler.

Babies have understandable reasons to cry. They have no language skills, poor eyesight, painful colic, inability to control poo and pee, poor co-ordination, inability to control body temperature, and generally are rather helpless little things. I feel it's inappropriate to compare Rethuglicoonts with little babies.

Toddlers, however, are selfish and vicious little shiatstains who cry only cos they don't get their own way, and should be beaten mercilessly with a damn belt til they shut the fark up - or at least crawl under a piece of furniture and stay out of your face for the rest of the night.

Followed by a great post. POTY.

Dude, why don't you e-mail this to some so-called journalists of the so-called free press?

The issue is that the free press is no longer free.  So what is the point?  Maybe 1,000 farkers will read your post.  What difference does it make?

Working on it.
I just put a submission in with this attached

I've been working on that.  And you are right.  if a thousand Farkers read it, no big deal.  But what if a thousand farkers all spammed the hell out of the press with this?

--------------------

If I can ask you to take a little time, there is a little experiment I am asking Farkers to engage in.
We keep hearing the "both sides are bad" line which we know is historically a load of crap.
I understand the need for the press to try and remain neutral.  However, when news organizations intentionally cherry pick what stories to run  to pre

So, if they are going to actively engage in a news strategy that enables a Government shutdown to go on longer than it needs to, all at the same time, risking a default, then lets both play that game.

The goal...

Shut down the news until they shutdown the shutdown.

Trust me, that sounds a lot more ridiculous when you say it out loud.  If you try and make a song out of it, then you are more disturbed than I am.

However, there are things we can do.  So with this in mind, I have made a little factsheet below.

And, here is what I am asking..

Copy this factsheet into your handy little clipboard.

Then scroll over to Facebook.  No, I do not want you to post this on your wall.  You can, but that is
not the point.  The point is to get this out there, in front of people.

Then go to all of these news outlets Facebook pages, and paste it on their wall.

If they do not  allow posting to their wall, then scroll down to the first story about the shutdown, and post it in a comment there.

Some notes about the factsheet
Sadly, most of it was gathered from Fark.
I tried to leave commentary out of it.   Nothing critical, no name calling.
I did try and use original sources* as much as possible.   If you have an original source, for one of the stories, feel free to share.

Links to a few Facebook news pages.
However, it is quicker if you just type them name into the Facebook Search.
Also your local news would be a good call.

https://www.facebook.com/abcnews

https://www.facebook.com/CBS

https://www.facebook.com/NBCNews

https://www.facebook.com/cnn

https://www.facebook.com/PiersMorganLive

https://www.facebook.com/60minutes

https://www.facebook.com/AC360

https://www.facebook.com/latimes

https://www.facebook.com/washingtonpost

Also, use this link to find your congressmen, and post it on their wall.  Find the congressmen for your state, and post it on their wall
http://www.house.gov/representatives/find/

For added Bonus, go a head, post on your wall, and ask others to do the same.

Seriously.  This might sound silly.  It might sound like a waste of time.  But when news organizations start their day Monday morning, and 1,000 people (or more) have flooded them.  It will be a real WTF moment, and they might decide that if they aren't going to tell the full story for integrity sake, then maybe they will do it for the ratings.

And if you think you don't have time, it takes about 10-15 minutes. Which is about how much time it  takes to Google that cute meme you were going to post in reply to this.

phenn: Now, now. A buddy has been posting photos from the protest and there are plenty of black vets in attendance. The whole racist thing just doesn't apply to everyone.

Lionel Mandrake: I think they fell a few shy of 1,000,000...even counting the non-vets.  But maybe those "pre-teens" are deep-cover special-ops.

Ooba Tooba: Is anyone pointing out the fact that these "people" are exploiting veterans? This propaganda style was somewhat effective during Goebbels time, but it is very transparent in 2013, right?

No. Propaganda works much as it always has.

I can't wait for folks to complain about how much trash is accumulating around these monuments.

The longer this goes on, the more likely there is going to be something truly horrendous that even Fox and Friends won't be able to ignore. They'll blame it on the intransigence of the House Democrats of course, and the White House, but at this point, there are way too many tales of some hinkey ass sh*t brewing and services that are going to be set back months thanks to this mess--which, oddly enough, is going to cost a passel of dollars to set back to right. Which will be spun as MOAR government waste, but damnation folks, maybe take a gasp outside the bubble, because it's got to be smelling up something fierce by now. Like coffee, cigarettes, and occluded shame...

I miss the good old days, when Republicans just complained that Obama's Christian pastor was too radical.

This were simpler times. People tried to hide their racism, governments base functions hadn't been bargaining chips in a long time, and conservatives still felt an in long of shame when one of their own said or did something stupid.

A time long gone :-(

FTFA: "Angered by the closure of national landmarks due to the partial government shutdown"

I would love it for once if a news agency would be brutally honest and state tge obvious.

"Angered because the President is black..... the protesters...."

It took a long time, but it looks like Lincoln should have just said, "Screw it, man."
