HAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHA!!!

After the whole Luongo soap opera all summer and then dealing Schneider, Luongo and the Canucks deserve everything they get.

Which includes trailing the Flames in the standings.

Mua ha ha ha ha.

That's some fine goaltending there, Luo. And some fine petulance, also:

Asked if he'd ever given up a more bizarre game-winner, Luongo said, "I didn't give that up, so I can't tell you."

Bro, it bounced off of both of your skates. Keep your eye on the puck at all times, and stupid shiat like that won't happen.

You don't think the whole Luongo/Schneider saga was just the slightest bit ridiculous?

And that in the end everyone is just going to go back to being happy go lucky Canucks?

And then they hire John Tortorellla as head coach?

It's like they're trolling themselves.

And I'm rather enjoying it.

They came within one game of the Cup and failed, they just haven't been the same team since. The pieces are all there they just don't seem to be put together right.

And again, your hatred seems pathetic. You hate the city of Vancouver and the Canucks and never miss a chance to pile on them. Anything bad happens with either of those two things and you're almost always the first one to jump on them.

Well since we're talking about hockey does anyone know of somewhere other than getting a cable package that I can watch Canucks and San Jose games from Winnipeg? Does anyone use Center Ice and like it?

This is my third year with Center Ice. I love it. It's very reasonably priced, though the blackouts for nationally televised games mean I don't get to see as many live Blackhawk games as I'd like. (I don't have cable or satellite and we can't get air channels in our apartment.) I watch games through my Roku box, through the NHL app, and occasionally on NHL.com on my computer.

Fortunately I can get around the nationally televised games because they're all streamed on the CBC website, I guess I'll have to look into it a bit more.

Didn't Patrick Roy have a goal happen to him kinda like that? IIRC someone dumped the puck in and it took a strange bounce off the boards from the corner. The puck then came up behind him bounced off his skates and in. I swear it was against the wings but I can't find the video...

Play in goal long enough and you'll watch a few weird ones get by you. Good goalies don't worry about those.

You worry when you start missing the easy ones right in front of you.

I got it last year for Sharks games, and it wasn't bad... but really, for Canadians, too many blackouts, and no intermission commentary on most nights with Sharks unless you were watching a Chicago feed.  The PS3 client was delayed nearly 6 weeks, meaning I had to watch on the laptop.  Kinda missed the post game shows, and because buggers like TSN show the odd Sharks vs St. Louis game, that's blocked for all of Canada.  If they play any of the seven Canadian teams, it's blacked out, and that sucks if you don't subscribe to cable at all.

Video quality is awesome, but really, if I'm paying, I'd like to have the ability to watch any game.

There's this somewhat legally grey service called Hockey Streams that doesn't require cable/satellite, does offer a lot more HD than Center Ice, and is a bargain at $100 a year.  It's >>>> Center Ice, imho.

Gamecenter doesn't require cable and costs $150. First year I've tried it and works extremely well on my PC, PS3 and roku. Blackouts aren't really an issue for me as a leafs fan living in South Carolina. I may have one blackout all season, at most.

I've read about getting around the blackout issue by using a VPN going through some countries in central/south america or europe, never had to try it myself though. They run about $3/mo.

I am currently watching all the canucks games on game center (and I did last year) you just need to use a VPN adds about 6 months a month to cost, but still cheaper than cable and I like the VPN for other downloading activities.  Only thing is I find that the streams suck live (to much buffering or you have to use a low quality stream) so I like to wait and watch it during a slower time, but my bandwidth is pretty spotty.  The PVR like controls are actually kind of terrible for anything other than going back 10 seconds.

Since everyone has Center Ice right now, there is no excuse for someone watching either feed to get it done.

The Leafs have been mostly winning ugly, the only one they "earned" was in Nashville.  (without checking the metrics, 'cause by that, they probably didn't there either)  But there is a certain confidence that comes from winning and having a few highish end goal scorers, that if they are down by one, maybe two, they will get it back, and take it away.
There is a old bit about statistics being just this side of lies.  I wonder if these metrics need a bit of a tweak?

Dumping them would probably be a better idea.  I find that there is an over abundance of stats these days, and most of the new ones involve formulas that only an accountant could come up with(or even explain).

As a Canucks fan, I've kind of reached the stage of 'eh, I'll keep watching but I'm not expecting much' already. If Tortorella can get them fired up and back up the 'be aggressive' nature of his coaching with 'don't let the farking puck in the net you idiots' defense they might pick it back up.

But I'm also considering whether it's time to revive the #firegillis hashtag.

Try hockeystreams.com. It's under $100 US for the entire season. My fiancee and I just signed up and are loving it. It's as close to live as you can get (a few seconds delay), HD, and you can choose which feed you want - home or away. You don't even have to sign up for the entire season right off the bat. Daily, weekly, and monthly subscriptions are available as well.

The one caveat is that it's only available via the internet. So if you don't have a reasonably fast connection - or don't have a way to broadcast streams to your TV - it might not work for you.

We love it. We don't have to pay the local cable provider a king's ransom to watch hockey and don't have to go to our local pub every time the Sharks play (which used to run us at least $50 per game).

2013-10-14 10:27:17 PM
Allright heres the lowdown on blackouts and NHLCI and other providers of hockey. To have the right to retransmit any hockey game you have to buy the teams rights for it. RDS owns the Canadians, and Rogers owns the leafs, and lastly the Canucks are owned by shaw direct. Besides that, they have complete rights to blackout the game in Canada and force you to watch it on their network, if its available where you stand. So, dont like a game in french? Boohoo, cause RDS is french and if they dont feel like selling the game to another network, you are out of luck.

Now most games arent blackedout, but of course the Canadian team vs Canadian team often is. Its a network battle, and most network want revenue from ads. They bought it and now they are showing it. Now some other providers outside the teams channels, the network that bought them and NHLCI might show a game but if its blackedout, its not legal and is subject to a copyright violation and fines. Yeah, hockey is copyrighted, and that enough for us Canadians to cry foul or penalty for tripping. How dare they put money in a game thats seen by millions and where players have a minimum salary of 650k? Is it 750k now?

If you are an Oilers fan, living in Calgary you might complain even more. Some teams even sold exclusive rights to PPV events, like the Flames package did. It costs 120$ to even more to get what, like 8 exclusive games? Now if its an Oilers vs Flames game, you bet its going to be blackedout and only available on this package. Its, of course, the same price later in the year where 5 of those 8 games are done.

So is it worth it to get NLHCI? Only if you are a fan of a team thats not in your country, or you work for the NHL. Did you know players and coaches and legends have it for free?
