Every time you get close to getting a deal over here with our Democratic friends, they move the ball

First off, get your sports metaphors right.  You are supposed to move the ball, it's the damn goalposts that are supposed to stay still.

Secondly, they haven't been moving the goalposts toward you, that's why you're mad.

It's the Southeastern 'R'-less dialect unrelated to the more common Appalachian and r-ful southern spoken by poor whites of the south

It is was formerly common among among slave owning aristocrats in the coastal Carolina and Georgia area.

It's dying out today along with hundreds of other American regional dialects so enjoy it while you can

Hey Danger Mouse, how about this:  tell your dickhead Senate colleagues to stop filibustering clean bills.  Tell your dickhead House colleagues to allow a vote on a clean bill.  Stop trying to stuff poison pills in every agreement.

FTA: "Every time you get close to getting a deal over here with our Democratic friends, they move the ball because some poll comes out."

and then

FTA: "I am going to look at offering the Vitter language on anything that comes out of the Senate,"

The Democrats aren't moving the ball.  They've been asking for the same fair solution since day 1 - a clean CR and a clean debt ceiling increase, neither with any concessions or riders, and neither with any ridiculously short time restrictions.  In fact, you're doing what you're complaining that the Democrats are doing by attaching the Vitter language!

The delusion and hypocrisy are mind-boggling.

The Senate passed a clean CR today. The Republicans filibustered it. Boehner won't even allow a vote on a clean funding bill in the House. The Republicans are blocking the will of the majority in BOTH CHAMBERS OF CONGRESS, but it's somehow both sides' fault?

By Saturday afternoon, Graham suggested he may try to attach a version of Sen. David Vitter's (R-La.) amendment ending health-care subsidies for lawmakers and congressional staffers to any Reid-McConnell agreement.

I think this is something that everyone can get behind.  There is just no reason why members of congress should be getting special sweetheart subsidies.

Well the.problem is that the subsidies don't really bother all the millionaire elected officials but it really farks over the aides barely pulling down $35,000 and having to live in or around DC where an apartment share will cost you $1000 a month plus utilities.

How come you have no sympathy for ordinary Americans who don't get sweetheart deals from their employers, but got to buy their Obamacare from exchanges at full price?

He can't be serious. He's pretending to be mad that people who work for the federal government get subsidies while completely ignoring the fact that people who work for other companies can also get subsidies from their employers. Characterizing this as a "sweetheart" deal is just not something a serious person can do.

"If we're going to screw up the whole country, we might as well throw ourselves in the mix."

The Republican political ideology in a nutshell. Idiots doing dumb things because bigger idiots are doing dumber things.

The only appropriate responses at this point are to laugh or get angry, and I've lost the capacity for humor.

If we die as a country, we deserve it. Might as well enjoy the carnage.

Sweetheart deals? What sweetheart deal? What exactly are they getting? Is it better health insurance than they deserve or something? What exactly is the point of this measure?

Sen. Lindsey Graham is angry. He's frustrated. He's upset. In his own words, he's "very dangerous."

Did he actually say "you wouldn't like me when I'm angry"? Cos that'd be funny to me.

I've seen dust bunnies that inspired more terror than the thought of an angry effeminate southern dandy like Lindsey Graham.

/To be fair they were pretty big dust bunnies.

The point of the measure is to point out that the GOP hates employer subsidies. Or something. You figure it out.
